Chapter 6: Limit break or Collapse

The arena fell silent.

Kai stood there—barely.

His chest rose and fell like it was fighting to keep up with his own body. His vision blurred, the world spinning as the last traces of crimson energy flickered around him like dying flames.

Rex… was down.

Defeated.

But something wasn't right.

Kai took a step forward—

—and nearly collapsed.

A sharp, burning pain shot through his veins.

"Ghh—!"

He dropped to one knee, clutching his chest. It felt like his body was tearing itself apart from the inside. His muscles screamed, his blood felt like fire.

What… is happening to me…?

A voice echoed in his mind.

Low. Ancient. Calm… yet terrifying.

"Your body… is too weak."

Kai's eyes widened.

"You again…"

The demon.

The same presence from before.

"You forced power your vessel cannot contain. This outcome was inevitable."

Kai gritted his teeth, struggling to stay conscious.

"I… won…"

A faint chuckle echoed.

"Won? Look at yourself."

His vision flickered.

His arms trembled uncontrollably.

His heartbeat… was unstable.

"Victory means nothing if your body breaks before your next battle."

Kai tried to stand—

—but his legs gave out completely.

The last thing he saw…

…was the sky spinning above him.

Then darkness.

When Kai opened his eyes again…

He was somewhere else.

A quiet room.

White ceiling.

The faint smell of medicine.

"You're awake."

Kai turned his head slightly.

One of the instructors stood nearby, arms crossed.

"You pushed too far," the instructor said. "Your body nearly shut down completely."

Kai stayed silent.

"…Rex?" he asked.

"Alive. Recovering. You hit him hard—but you're the one who almost died."

Kai clenched his fists.

That… wasn't victory.

That was luck.

The instructor stared at him for a moment, then spoke again.

"If you keep using that power the same way…"

He paused.

"You won't last long."

Silence filled the room.

Then—

Kai slowly sat up.

"…Then I'll fix it."

The instructor raised an eyebrow.

Kai's eyes were different now.

Focused.

Determined.

"I don't just want power," Kai said quietly. "I want control."

Later that day…

Kai stood in front of a massive facility.

Different sections spread out before him:

Strength training.

Speed chambers.

Combat zones.

And one area…

That felt heavier than the rest.

Gravity training.

Kai stared at it.

"…This is where it starts."

The demon's voice echoed again, softer this time.

"A wise choice… if you wish to survive."

Kai stepped forward.

No hesitation.

No fear.

"If my body can't handle the power…"

He clenched his fist.

"Then I'll build a body that can

The doors slid open.

A heavy force pressed down instantly—

Kai's knees bent slightly from the pressure.

But he didn't fall.

Not this time.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Good…"

His eyes sharpened.

"Let's begin."
