Chapter 12 - Advanced Sword Mastery scroll

Chapter 12

Advanced Sword Mastery Scroll

With Ethan Quinn's current strength, killing the Orc Shaman and breaking the curse would only take a few minutes.

But if there was a convenient solution available, there was no reason to waste time fighting through a damage over time curse.

Ethan reached out and lightly poked Lily Rowan.

She was standing beside him with trembling legs, clearly terrified by the shaman's presence.

The sudden poke snapped her out of her fear.

Lily immediately reacted.

She pulled a radiant golden staff from her storage equipment and began reciting a spell.

A moment later a brilliant beam of light descended from above.

The column of energy was taller than Ethan himself.

The curse affecting him vanished instantly.

Legendary Purification.

Ethan raised an eyebrow.

Seeing a spell of this level made him even more certain about one thing.

Getting on good terms with Lily's mentor, Professor Elara Snow, was absolutely worth it.

Once his condition returned to normal, Ethan activated his scouting ability again.

He raised the Exploration Eye and scanned the Orc Shaman.

Defense 250

Curse

Spirit Wolf Summoning

Bloodlust

Description. A powerful shaman of the Orc Tribes capable of communicating with ancestral spirits.

After reviewing the information, Ethan simply shrugged.

Nothing special.

He had already reached Level 10.

After leveling up earlier he had placed all thirty bonus attribute points into Strength.

That meant thirty additional attack power.

Combined with the massive damage provided by the Dragon Slayer Blade, his Tenfold Critical Talent, and the weapon's forty percent damage bonus, the results were ridiculous.

And now Lily had added another one hundred percent attack boost on top of it.

Even against a boss with two hundred fifty defense, Ethan's normal attack could remove roughly one quarter of the shaman's health.

In other words the boss could survive at most four strikes.

Ethan drew the Dragon Slayer Blade.

Then he launched forward like a missile.

The blade flashed through the air and struck the shaman's neck before the creature could finish casting its spell.

Dragon Slayer Blade effect triggered.

Slow applied for six seconds.

Ethan's eyes lit up.

The moment those effects triggered he accelerated his attacks.

Meanwhile the shaman's movements became painfully slow under the weapon's debuff.

The battle instantly became one sided.

Slash.

Slash.

Slash.

The Dragon Slayer Blade moved like falling rain, striking again and again.

Blood red critical damage numbers exploded above the shaman's head.

That was all it took.

The boss collapsed to the ground.

The shaman's lifeless body fell heavily to the ground.

Golden light immediately burst from beneath it.

Ethan stepped forward, kicked the corpse aside, and collected the drops.

System Notification.

Gold Equipment obtained. Shaman Pendant.

Skill Book obtained. Spirit Wolf Summoning.

Gold Material obtained. Shaman Totem.

Gold Random Equipment Chest obtained.

Ethan's eyes immediately focused on the two treasure chests.

One contained a random skill.

The other contained a random piece of equipment.

Since neither chest had restrictions, the result depended entirely on luck.

After considering it briefly, Ethan decided to open them immediately.

He would soon pass through the portal to challenge a dungeon instance. If the chests contained something useful, his combat power would increase before the fight.

Ethan tapped the virtual open button.

Both chests burst with dazzling golden light.

When the light faded, two items appeared in front of him.

System Notification.

Gold Equipment obtained. Night Hunter Dagger.

Gold Scroll obtained. Advanced Sword Mastery.

Ethan froze.

His gaze locked onto the scroll.

Advanced Sword Mastery.

This was a legendary skill every sword user dreamed of.

Weapon mastery scrolls of this tier normally appeared only in high level dungeons after players reached the main cities, usually above Level 60.

Even then the drop rate was extremely low.

A player might clear a dungeon a hundred times without seeing a single mastery scroll.

Obtaining one from a random chest was almost impossible.

Ethan exhaled slowly.

His luck today was unbelievable.

He casually tossed the Night Hunter Dagger into his inventory without even inspecting it.

The scroll was far more important.

Without hesitation he activated it.

System Notification.

Advanced Sword Mastery used.

Your previous sword mastery skill has been replaced.

Ethan opened his skill panel.

Advanced Sword Mastery

Effects

Dynamic vision increased by 100 percent.

Neural reflex speed increased by 100 percent.

Sword weapon damage increased by 30 percent.

Proficiency 0 out of 10000.

Description. Only true masters of the blade can wield this power.

After reading the description Ethan's eyes shone with excitement.

Thirty percent extra damage combined with his Tenfold Critical Talent would add nearly fifteen hundred damage to every basic attack.

The improvements to reflex speed and perception would also transform his combat ability completely.

His strength had just jumped to an entirely new level.

Ethan picked up the Dragon Slayer Blade and swung it several times through the air.

The weapon felt lighter.

Faster.

More precise.

Within moments he fully adapted to the new mastery.

Satisfied, Ethan turned toward the massive portal at the center of the chamber.

Behind him, Lily Rowan forced herself to suppress her fear and hurried after him.
