"I didn't think finding a new base would be this hard."
Mikey voice rang through the silence of the abandoned streets, an obvious annoyance evident in his tone.
Kiya remained silent as they traversed the ruined section of the street, observing the abandoned buildings that were tangled with moss and vines.
The subtle tapping of their shoes against the rugged and deteriorating concrete, filled the uncanny silence that consumed the area.
"Listen, I'm not trying to back away from our duel. But you've got the wrong idea about me-"
Mikey began to explain himself regarding the incident between them, until Kiya lifted her slender finger and pressed it against her lips to shush Mikey without uttering a sound.
That's when Mikey felt a presence from behind just as Kiya turned around, which urged him to turn around as well.
"I'm guessing that's the android we had to watch out for?"
Mikey asked in confirmation, to which Kiya nodded with furrowed eyebrows, her mind racing a million miles per second in an attempt to find an escape route.
In front of the duo, the female silver haired android stood with an unreadable expression. In her hand, was a spear decorated with gold lining that gave it an expensive yet technological appearance.
"I'll hold her off as best as I can, return to base. I'll catch up later."
Mikey proclaimed much to the disagreement of Kiya, though Mikey did not give her enough time to respond and rushed forward, a massive grin on his face at the prospect of battling against a power adversary.
Kiya groaned in irritation at Mikey's stupidity and recklessness, but instead of running she stood by to support him in battle.
"Target Michael Sonora has been located."
The android had proclaimed, which made Mikey halt for a bit, confusion clear on his face.
"Me? Was this a suicide mission?"
Mikey uttered this aloud, thinking back on what Maya had told them about encountering the android.
Unfortunately, Mikey had no time to continue his pondering thoughts and was forced to step to the side, narrowly avoiding a downward vertical slash from the spear wielded by the android.
Mikey's eyes had widened instinctively with surprise at the immense speed displayed by the android.
Though before the female android could redirect her attack, Mikey had already began a counterattack.
The marking on his chest glowed with enough luminosity to be seen through his shirt, albeit faintly, indicating the activation of his scientific ability.
On the other hand, the android shifted her stance and recovered from the missed swing, now already in position to deliver a horizontal slash with frightening precision and speed.
'Ah shit-'
Mikey could only watch as time slowed the closer the blade of the spear got to his neck.
The wind viciously whipped around the two in response to the android's impeccable strength, generating enough pressure to further crack the already deteriorating concrete.
That's wind time stood at a standstill. Every being were frozen in place, every creature met the same fate. The waves of the ocean halted, the subtle drifting of the clouds ceased movement.
The world itself stopped spinning.
Then in the eyes of Mikey, reality was painted black and white. Strings of information coded in numerical equations drifted through time itself.
Everything became a series of equations.
That was until, everything broke apart and shifted into permanent darkness. Then, reality rebuilt itself the same way it was but with drastic changes.
An event beyond Mikey's control played out right before his eyes.
Kiya leapt forward just in time to push him out the way, taking the spear directly to the neck. It was an immediate and clean slice, detaching her head from her shoulders with ease.
Crimson liquid sprayed from the missing section of her severed head, painting the concrete with blood and filling the air with a scent of iron.
Mikey could only stare with disbelief, his body unmoving as her blood splattered across his face, drenching his face in a crimson color along with the top half of his attire.
Then within a blink of an eye, Mikey found himself back to the current situation of meeting a tragic fate.
His peripheral caught the blur of Kiya moving towards him, though to the surprise of everyone present, Mikey had moved faster than the android could react.
He lunged forward and caught the spear with a tight grip, causing it to crack under the immense pressure.
Though as the android attempted to pull the spear back, she found it nearly impossible and for the first time since her creation, she felt a human emotion.
FEAR.
Mikey had overpowered the pulling and forced the android to stumble forward, her grip loosening on the spear which gave Mikey enough time to snatch it out of her hand.
That's when the android face was met with the bottom of a combat boot, violently throwing her back with enough force to uplift the portions of the concrete, exposing the dirt beneath.
Mikey felt a burning sensation on his chest, but his anger far surpassed the painful sensation he felt.
The mark responded to his emotional distress and flared with even more luminosity, causing his body to exude an azure aura that altered the flow of the wind in waves due to immense pressure.
The android looked up fearfully, staring at the monster that slowly stalled toward her, leaving her paralyzed in genuine fear.
Unfortunately, before Mikey could unleash an attack, the ground began to shake with extreme intensity.
This had forced Mikey off balance, severing the steady flow of energy between the mark and his body, that connected to the external reality.
Kiya could only watch in awe at the fast-paced battle which concluded with Mikey's victory. At least, it was about to end with their victory until the sky above them shimmered, revealing two helicopters hovering above them.
"Mikey! It's a trap!"
Kiya yelled this out after realization struck, noticing that they were waiting the entire time, as if they've known that the two would be here in the abandoned city.
Mikey glanced over with confusion written on his face, but it was quickly replaced with shock as a brilliant light shone on him and the android.
In the next instant, the android, Mikey, and the two helicopters were gone with no trace of how they escaped.
T.O.C HEADQUARTERS...
"Do you think it was a good idea to send the newbie? I get your-"
The senior member known as Yusaka had proclaimed with a worried tone, though his complaint was cut short by Kiya bursting into the room, a worried expression present on her face.
"Mikey's been Kidnapped by the government agency!"
This simple statement from Kiya had thrown the room into a full-blown panic.
Everyone who knew of Mikey's scientific ability had realized the severity in the situation.
"If they manage to brain wash him or utilize the full potential of his power, we're seriously fucked."
Yusaka proclaimed with a tone of urgency. Meanwhile, the other's had already begun to equip themselves with their weapons and gear.
"Kiya, you'll stay here with Makayla and Leo. Me, Yusaka, and Yuri will go secure Mikey. I'm pretty sure I know where their taking him"
Maya proclaimed to her sister in a commanding tone, her soft expression replaced with one worthy of a commander.
Kiya nodded and glanced over at the other's, who reluctantly sighed but agreed nonetheless.
Main Government Headquarters...
"We've finally caught you, Michael Sonora."
A bald man adorned with a white lab coat had proclaimed with arrogance, staring at Mikey's restrained form with glee.
"Congratulations."
Mikey replied sarcasticly while glaring daggers at the bald man.
Mikey had been chained between two pillars, with both arms spread and locked in place, leaving his body open and vulnerable.
"Is this some sort of sick kink y'all got? Or is it just you?"
Mikey had asked with genuine concern for his innocence, glancing up at the chains that bound his arms and kept him from utilizing his ability.
"Shut up. Anyway, those chains are carved from suppressants so your power is practically useless."
The bald man had chuckled sinisterly, observing as Mikey squirmed uncomfortably, attempting to slip out of the chains but to no avail.
"NOW! Let's begin the experiments"
2 Years Later....
Subtle drops of water splashed against the cold, stone ground in rhythmic intervals. The jingles of chains rung through the eerie silence.
The only source of light were the stripes of sunlight seeping through the makeshift windows, which sat high near the ceiling making it impossible to escape.
In the center of the room, bound by both wrists with chains, was none other than Michael Sonora.
His ocean colored eyes that were once filled with vibrant vitality, were dull and void of its fruitful nature.
No longer did it shine with brilliance, instead it shone with emptiness that could sink the gazes of others in its despair.
His mouth hung slightly agape, dried and crusted from lack of moisture. His once sturdy build, now replaced with a skinny frame that begged for nutrients.
"Seventeen thousand five hundred and twenty hours. Today marks a new year..."
Mikey voice was low and raspy, indicating the lack of vocal usage which resulted in the current dryness in his voice.
His tone filled with a lost hope drowned in sorrow and vengeful rage.
Then a stream of light rushed through the closed doors of the dungeon, exposing a long corridor decorated with luxury items.
"Oh my~ you've managed to actually survive two years here. y'all enforcers are durable or maybe it's just your durability and willpower. Either way, you've given us nothing to work with so it's in our best option to end you."
A feminine voice broke through the silence after two years. Her tone laced with arrogance and false sympathy.
'It's Now Or Never-'
Mikey thought this to himself, though before he could do anything to try and escape, the entirety of the room lit up in a blaze then was engulfed in darkness.
A Few Hours Later...
Mikey eyes fluttered open and through his dazed vision, he could see the flickering flames and rubble surrounding him.
Yet instead of the burning sensation felt from being near fire, his body had felt a warmth for the first In two years.
His shivering body calmed and relaxed from the heat that engulfed him, and despite the thick smoke that filled the room, Mikey remained calm.
"Finally. I'm released from this hell..."
His voice was low and hushed, a small genuine smile graced his face after two long years of torture.
Then he felt relief wash over his body, his eyelids grew heavier until he could no longer keep them open, then he fell into the pit of unconscious.
Elsewhere....
Outside of the planet, a large spacecraft remained stationary between the moon and the planet.
Fortunately for the inhabitants of the planet, the gravitational force that kept the tides of the oceans at bay did not faulter.
Though from the gaps of the large cubic objects in the sky, the frontal part of the spacecraft was exposed to those who decided to gaze intently.
"Sir. We've finally arrived at Sol-5118208, known as earth. What is our next course of action"
Monotone, robotic and devoid of any emotion was the only thing that could describe this voice. It was neither masculine nor feminine.
"Show them we mean business."
BACK ON EARTH...
Sirens and alarms had blared globally, alerting every inhabitant of an incoming threat.
The cubic objects that laid stationary in the sky, began to glow in a dazzling azure light that shimmered across the planet surface.
"EMERGENCY - CODE D.E.A.T.H"
This message sounded through all active devices controlled by the government agency.
Panic ensued and the thought of another invasion raced through the minds of each inhabitant.
Then from the gaps in the sky, a pillar of blinding light fell like lightning, striking the center of the planet.
