Chapter 2 - chapter 1

The Quiet Girl and the Rain

Lila loved the rain

While others ran for shelter, she would sit by the window, watching the tiny droplets race down the glass. To her, rain felt like a secret language—soft, calm, and full of unspoken emotions.

One afternoon, as the sky turned gray and the first drops began to fall, Lila sat in her usual spot at a small café. She had her notebook open but hadn't written a single word.

"Do you always stare at the rain like that?" a voice asked.

She looked up, slightly startled. A boy stood there, holding two cups of coffee. He smiled—not too bright, not too shy—just enough to make her curious.

"I guess I do," she replied softly.

"I'm Arin," he said, placing one cup in front of her. "You looked like you needed company."

Lila hesitated, then nodded. "Lila."

That day, they talked about small things—favorite books, music, dreams they weren't sure would come true. The rain kept falling, but for the first time, Lila didn't feel alone in it.

Days turned into weeks, and the café became their place. Arin would always arrive first, saving her seat by the window. Sometimes they talked endlessly, and sometimes they just sat in silence, listening to the rain together.

Lila sat alone, watching the clear sky, feeling something missing. Just as she was about to leave, Arin rushed in, slightly out of breath.

"I thought you wouldn't come today," she said.

"I said I'd meet you here," he replied, smiling. Then he paused. "Rain or not."

There was something different in his eyes that day—something deeper.

"I used to hate the rain," he continued. "It always felt lonely."

"And now?" Lila asked.

"Now it reminds me of you."

Lila felt her heart beat a little faster. The silence between them wasn't awkward—it was warm, like a quiet understanding.

Outside, the sky suddenly darkened, and as if on cue, the rain began to fall again.

Lila smiled.

Maybe the rain wasn't just a language after all.

Maybe it was a beginning
