📘 Chapter 20 — "The World Beyond the System"Â
Light.
Blinding.
Cold.
Aren couldn't feel the ground beneath him.
Couldn't feel his body.
Only the pull.
Like something was dragging his existence somewhere it didn't belong.
[TRANSPORT SEQUENCE ACTIVE]
[DESTINATION: UNKNOWN]
[STATUS: UNAUTHORIZED TRANSFER]
"…So this is how it starts," Aren muttered.
His voice echoed—but not in air.
In nothing.
His eyes opened.
But there was no sky.
No ground.
Only fragments.
Floating.
Broken.
Worlds.
Each one like shattered glass suspended in darkness.
Aren's breath slowed.
"…What is this place…?"
The system responded.
But slower.
Weaker.
[INTERMEDIATE LAYER DETECTED]
[REALITY STATUS: UNSTABLE]
Aren looked around.
Some fragments showed cities.
Others showed complete destruction.
And some—
Showed nothing at all.
Just emptiness.
Then—
One fragment moved.
Not drifting.
Turning.
Toward him.
A figure stood inside that fragment.
Watching him.
Still.
Silent.
Aren's eyes narrowed.
"…You're not from my world."
The figure stepped forward.
And the fragment cracked.
Shattered.
Then—
It appeared in front of him.
Instantly.
"You crossed layers without permission."
Its voice was calm.
But carried weight.
Authority.
Aren clenched his fist.
"Didn't really have a choice."
The figure tilted its head.
"Errors neverÂ
The system suddenly glitched violently:
[WARNING: FOREIGN AUTHORITY DETECTED]
[CONTROL PRIORITY LOST]
[RESTRICTED ACCESS]
Aren froze.
"…Lost?"
This was the first time—
The system wasn't in control.
The figure raised its hand.
And reality bent.
Not cracked.
Bent.
Around it.
"You are not supposed to exist in this layer."
Aren's heartbeat slowed.
THUMP.
"…Then I'll make space."
The figure disappeared.
Aren reacted instantly.
[PERCEPTION: MAXIMUM]
Time slowed.
Space stretched.
He turned—
Just as the attack came.
Impact.
But not physical.
Existence itself shook.
Aren was thrown backward through fragments.
Crashing through floating worlds.
He stopped mid-air.
Breathing hard.
"…This is way beyond before…"
The system flickered weakly.
[HOST OUTCLASSED]
The figure appeared again.
Closer.
Faster.
Stronger.
"This is not your battlefield."
Aren's hand trembled.
Not from fear.
From pressure.
From something inside him responding.
"…Not yet."
The voice inside him whispered again:
"Let me out."
Aren closed his eyes.
"…No."
A pause.
Then—
"…Not fully."
His eyes opened.
Dark.
Different.
The space around him bent slightly.
Not because of the enemy—
Because of him.
The system screamed:
[UNKNOWN STATE ENTERED]
[ERROR CORE RESPONSE DETECTED]
The figure stopped moving.
For the first time—
It hesitated.
"…Interesting."
Aren stepped forward.
Slowly.
Calmly.
"Now we're on equal ground."
The entire space trembled.
Fragments began collapsing.
Worlds shifting.
Something bigger waking up.
Far above—
A massive presence opened its eyes.
Watching both of them.
The system whispered one final line:
[HIGHER OBSERVER ATTENTION GAINED]
Aren smiled slightly.
"…Good."
