Chapter 6 - First Summon

"I thought this would have been easy, but the Abyss has more secrets than I could ever expect... It makes me curious about how Chaos Control will react... but it also worries me that I won't be able to stop it once it starts," Damian thought as he looked at the skill.

"I guess I just have to take this slowly. First, I need help," Damian said as he opened the summoning function of the system.

"System, commence summoning using 100 Abyssal Essence," Damian decided after a moment.

As the system notifications rang out, Damian felt his body become drained as the Abyssal Essence left him. Like streams of water, the dark liquid began to take shape before him, molding like clay into a humanoid figure.

As it fully took shape, the Abyssal Essence began to turn into mist, fading into the air until the figure became a person.

Now standing before him was a young woman with long silver-white hair that flowed down her back like moonlight spilling across dark water. Resting atop her head was a large crooked witch's hat, deep violet in color, its wide brim shadowing part of her face and giving her an almost mysterious, regal presence.

Her skin was smooth, ashen black, like polished obsidian kissed by faint starlight, making the pale silver of her hair stand out even more.

She wore a dark violet dress that clung tightly to her figure, elegant yet torn in places as if touched by the Abyss itself. Fine silver lace lined the edges of the fabric, lending the outfit an eerie nobility. The dress draped low across her shoulders and chest, while long flowing sleeves and ribbons swayed softly as if moved by an unseen wind.

In one hand, she held a gnarled wooden staff, twisted like the branch of an ancient dead tree, its dark surface pulsing faintly with abyssal mist.

But what caught Damian's attention most were her eyes.

Beneath the shadow of the hat, her silver irises glimmered with a cold, intelligent light, carrying the weight of someone far older and wiser than her youthful appearance suggested.

She looked less like a normal summon and more like a witch pulled straight from the darkest corners of a forgotten fairy tale.

For a moment, the room fell silent.

Then the woman slowly lowered her head toward Damian, her lips curling into a faint smile.

"My summoner," she said, her voice smooth and velvety, "what is your command?"

"Recluse... to think my luck would be this good," Damian said with a grin as he stood up and stepped before her.

"I am glad you are satisfied, summoner," Recluse replied.

"Yes, more than satisfied, and my command is to help me in the task of protecting humanity."

"Protect humanity?" Recluse said, surprised at Damian's command.

"Yes, you see, unlike the world you know, this one is filled with humans that have no magical energy, no faith, nor mana. Because of this, they have become targets of the supernatural: devils, angels, fallen angels, and more. I wish to change that, but to do it, my plan will flip the world into chaos, exposing things that are best kept hidden," Damian explained.

"I see, but summoner, excuse me if this seems rude, but you don't seem human. The energy you give off seems more ancient," Recluse asked.

"Yes, I am no longer human, but I still plan to save them because of a promise I made. Also, just call me Damian."

"Very well, Damian, but how do you plan to do what you are planning?" Recluse asked.

"Well, you see, there are some humans...very rare and very few...chosen by angels and devils or turned into servants. I plan to find them and bring them to my side... then I plan to..."

"…!"

"A-Are you sure, Damian!?" Recluse asked as Damian told her his plan.

"Yes, I am... It's the only way to take the first step toward peace, but there are many things that must happen before then, and the most important of them is finding God."

"Finding God, so you do have gods in this world."

"Yes, we have many gods, but the strongest of them all, the one who sits at the top of one of the three factions, and the one whose disappearance is known, will cause a major war, is currently missing. So we must find him sooner rather than later, if possible," Damian explained.

"Ha... it seems you have gotten yourself into quite the position," Recluse said with a small laugh.

"Yes, that's why I won't force you to, but I ask, will you follow me down this path?" Damian asked as he changed into his true form.

"I see, you have been truthful with me, so I will be with you. I don't know how much I can help you, but I will do what I can as your summon to aid you in your perilous journey," Recluse replied with a bow.

"Thank you, Recluse, I will be counting on you," Damian said with a smile as he placed a hand on her shoulder.
