Chapter 11 - The Audit of the Soul

The white light from The Executor didn't just illuminate the room; it erased it.

The gold-leaf ceilings, the crystal chandeliers, and the terrified billionaires of the Apex Gala dissolved into a sterile, infinite void of pure white data-streams. Tobi felt the floor vanish beneath his feet, replaced by a hum of high-frequency electricity that vibrated through the marrow of his bones.

[AREA DETECTED: THE ARCHIVE OF SOULS (AEGIS CORE)] [SYSTEM STATUS: TOTAL SUPPRESSION] [WARNING: YOUR NARRATIVE IS BEING DECONSTRUCTED.]

Tobi stood alone in the center of the void. His tuxedo was gone, replaced by the simple, worn-out hoodie and jeans he'd worn in the Wuse cafe. Across from him, The Executor floated an inch above the "ground," her white suit shimmering with the reflection of a billion scrolling bank ledgers.

"Tobias Adeyemi," she said, her voice no longer human. It sounded like the simultaneous chiming of every ATM in West Africa. "You have achieved a Level-5 synchronization with a Forbidden Logic in record time. You have devalued a Sovereign Asset and threatened a Tier-2 Overlord. According to the Laws of the Global Market, you are a 'Systemic Glitch'."

Tobi tried to move, but his limbs were locked in digital amber. "I'm a citizen. I found a theft and I exposed it."

"There is no 'theft' in a closed system, Tobias. There is only 'Allocation'," The Executor replied, her eyes—solid spheres of silver—pulsing with a cold light. "The 4.2 billion Naira was allocated for a narrative of Stability. You replaced it with a narrative of Chaos. Now, the System must determine if you are a 'Virus' to be deleted or an 'Asset' to be assimilated."

[INITIATING TRIAL: THE TRIPLE-LEDGER AUDIT]

Suddenly, three massive, holographic screens materialized around Tobi.

[SCREEN 1: THE LEDGER OF THE PAST] It showed Tobi's father, his face gaunt as he handed over their last savings to a corrupt school official. It showed Tobi's mother coughing in the dust of Kubwa. "To survive the Audit, you must sacrifice your Past. Give us your memories of the struggle, and we will grant you the 'Efficiency' of a God."

[SCREEN 2: THE LEDGER OF THE PRESENT] It showed the 5,000,000.00 Naira in his System Wallet. It showed the Titanium Card, the 500 million Naira contract with Alabi, and the power he now held over the city. "Sacrifice your Wealth. Return to the zero-state, and the Aegis will overlook your interference."

[SCREEN 3: THE LEDGER OF THE FUTURE] It showed a dark silhouette of Tobi standing atop a pyramid of gold, but his eyes were no longer green—they were the same dead silver as The Executor's. He was powerful, but he was hollow. "Sacrifice your Humanity. Become an Agent of the Aegis, and you will never know hunger again."

Tobi felt the weight of the "Capital Crush" returning, ten times stronger than Alhaji Danladi's aura. His [WILLPOWER] was a flickering candle in a hurricane.

[WILLPOWER: 15... 12... 8...]

"Pick one, Tobias," the voice boomed. "The Audit requires a deposit. Failure to provide one results in 'Total Deletion'."

Tobi looked at the screens. He looked at the faces of the people he loved, then at the cold, clinical beauty of the power he had stolen. The Market-God inside him wasn't whispering now; it was screaming.

"They want a 'Deposit', Tobi? Give them a 'Default'!"

Tobi's eyes didn't just flash green—they bled it. He reached out with his hands, his fingers digging into the digital fabric of the void itself.

[SKILL ACTIVATED: MARKET DOMAIN (PHASE 2 - UNSTABLE)] [ACTION: SHORT-SELLING THE AEGIS]

"I'm not picking any of them!" Tobi roared, the sound echoing through the infinite white. "Your system is built on the 'Hype' of the Elites. You think you're God? You're just a massive, over-leveraged bank! And I've seen your 'Liquidity Glitch'!"

[ERROR: UNAUTHORIZED ANALYSIS DETECTED] [THE EXECUTOR'S HYPE LEVEL: ???... 99,999... 88,000... 50,000]

Tobi didn't attack The Executor. He attacked the concept of her authority. He used the data he'd gathered from the Archivist, from Alabi, and from the streets of Abuja to prove that the Aegis wasn't "Absolute"—it was just a very large group of people lying to each other.

The white void began to crack. Black lines of "System-Skepticism" crawled across the infinite floor.

"You are... insane," The Executor said, her silver eyes flickering. "You cannot short-sell the Law!"

"The Law is just a Brand that hasn't been challenged yet!" Tobi shouted. He reached into his digital wallet and did the unthinkable. He didn't spend the 5 million—he destroyed it. He turned the money into "Raw Hype Energy" and shoved it into the cracks of the Aegis Core.

[SYSTEM OVERLOAD INITIATED] [SUCCESS PROBABILITY: 0.000001%] [XP GAINED: 10,000] [LEVEL UP: LEVEL 6! LEVEL 7! LEVEL 8!]

BOOM.

The white void shattered like a glass jar hit by a sledgehammer.

Tobi felt himself falling, plummeting back through the layers of the digital world. He saw the Garki markets, the Wuse cafes, and the Maitama mansions blurring past him in a kaleidoscope of binary and neon.

He hit the floor of the Transcorp Hilton with a bone-shattering thud.

The Congress Hall was a wreck. The billionaires were gone. The classical music was replaced by the shrill scream of emergency alarms. Segun Alabi was standing over him, his face pale and his tuxedo ruined, staring at Tobi as if he were looking at a ghost.

[MISSION COMPLETE: SURVIVE THE AUDIT] [REWARD: RANK UP - 'STREET-STRATEGIST' TO 'MARKET-DISRUPTOR'] [NEW STATUS: MOST WANTED BY THE AEGIS]

"What did you do?" Alabi whispered, his voice trembling. "The power... the grid... it all flickered. For three seconds, every bank in Nigeria stopped working."

Tobi stood up, his legs shaking, his eyes still glowing with a faint, residual green fire. He looked at his hands. He was Level 8 now. He was stronger than he'd ever been, but the target on his back was now visible from space.

"I didn't stop them, Alabi," Tobi said, his voice echoing in the empty hall. "I just reminded them that they can be audited, too."

Tobi walked toward the exit, stepping over the ruined silver-thread agbada Danladi had left behind. He was heading for Kubwa. He was heading for home. But he knew that by morning, every "Corporate Cultivator" in the world would be looking for the boy who broke the light.
