Chapter 122 - CHAPTER 122:THE RETURN NEW HOPES BECOMES REAL

The Golden Scorpion emerged from dimensional space above the coordinates where New Hope should have been.

But New Hope was not there.

Kafu stood at the viewport, his gold-red eyes scanning the void where his city had floated for months. Nothing. No crystal towers. No golden streets. No sign of the three million souls he had left behind.

His hand went to the rune on his heart. Kyrella? Serai? Anyone?

A moment of silence. Then Kyrella's voice echoed through their bond, warm with relief. You're back. We had to move. The dimension was failing.

Failing?

The system will explain. Hurry.

She sent him coordinates—not in the pocket dimension, but in real space. Near Zambezi-7. Near the world where he had been born.

The Golden Scorpion changed course.

---

THE NEW NEW HOPE

The transport descended through the atmosphere of a world that had once been a mining colony, its surface scarred by millennia of exploitation. But where the slave pens had stood, where the overseers' towers had loomed, something new had risen.

Crystal towers that reached for the sky. Golden streets that wound between buildings that hummed with protective arrays. Gardens where flowers bloomed that had never grown on this world before. And at its heart, a fortress of gold and obsidian that Kafu recognized as his own.

New Hope had not been destroyed. It had been reborn.

The transport settled in the central plaza, and Kafu stepped out to find his twelve wives waiting. Kyrella's Starlight blazed brighter than he had ever seen. Sylva's flowers bloomed at his feet. Morana's shadows wrapped around him like an embrace.

Kyrella spoke first. "You're back. You're alive. The broadcasts from the Blood Colosseum—we saw everything."

Kafu embraced her, then each of his wives in turn. "I made a promise. I came back."

Sylva touched his face. "You are different. Stronger. And yet…"

"The trials changed me." He looked at the city around them. "But this… what happened to the pocket dimension?"

---

THE SYSTEM'S EXPLANATION

The golden text blazed before his eyes.

[DIVINE GOD SYSTEM — DIMENSIONAL INTEGRITY REPORT]

Aspect Value

Original Pocket Dimension 1 billion km²

Current Population 3,153,000 souls

Maximum Safe Population 2,500,000 souls

Dimension Integrity 12% (critical failure imminent)

Kafu's eyes widened. "You're saying New Hope was too big for the dimension?"

[SYSTEM EXPLANATION — DIMENSIONS VS INNER WORLDS VS REALITIES]

Structure Description Capacity Stability

Pocket Dimension Folded space within existing reality, created by a cultivator Up to 1 billion km² Dependent on creator's power

Inner World Universe within a cultivator's soul, grown from within Universe-sized Stable if cultivator lives

Reality Self-sustaining existence with its own laws Infinite Independent of any being

Cosmetology Collection of realities with shared fundamental laws Multiversal Self-sustaining

"A pocket dimension is a bubble inside a larger reality," Kafu murmured. "It needs constant maintenance. Constant power. And it has limits."

[CORRECT. HOST'S POCKET DIMENSION WAS CREATED USING HOST'S POWER AND THE PRIMORDIAL VOID LOTUS PLANTS. WHEN HOST WAS AWAY FOR 16 DAYS, THE DIMENSION BEGAN TO COLLAPSE. THE ANCESTORS MOVED NEW HOPE TO REAL SPACE TO SAVE ITS INHABITANTS.]

Kyrella nodded. "We had no choice. The dimension was tearing itself apart. We anchored the city to Zambezi-7's crust and expanded it using the power of the plants."

Kafu looked at the city, at the freed slaves who had built it, at the future they had created. "It's better this way. A city that exists in real space. A civilization that can grow without limits."

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION — INNER WORLD INTEGRATION AVAILABLE]

"Host's inner world is universe-sized and currently empty. Would host like to integrate New Hope into inner world?"

Kafu was silent for a moment. His inner world—the universe he had formed within himself—was vast and empty. He could store New Hope there, protect it from anything that might threaten it.

But that would mean carrying the city within him. Always. Forever.

He looked at his wives, at the city they had built, at the three million souls who trusted him.

"No," he said. "A city should exist in the real world. A civilization should be able to grow on its own. I will not carry them inside me like a burden."

Sylva smiled. "You see them as people. Not as possessions."

"They were never possessions. Not when they were slaves. Not now that they are free."

---

THE PURCHASE

Kafu turned to the system. "I need to protect New Hope. And the forty-six worlds we freed. What can I buy?"

[SYSTEM SHOP — REALITY ANCHORS]

Item Effect Cost Coverage

Planetary Anchor Anchors a single world in reality, prevents dimensional displacement 1 billion CP 1 world

Stellar Anchor Anchors a star system, prevents reality manipulation 100 billion CP 1 star system

Galactic Anchor Anchors a galaxy, prevents timeline erasure 10 trillion CP 1 galaxy

Reality Anchor Network Anchors multiple worlds in a connected network 1 quadrillion CP Up to 100 worlds

Kafu calculated quickly. He had 3,042,028,000 CP remaining after the liberation. Enough for a Reality Anchor Network—barely.

"I'll take the Reality Anchor Network. Cover all forty-seven worlds."

[PURCHASE CONFIRMED — REALITY ANCHOR NETWORK]

Aspect Value

Cost 1,000,000,000,000,000 CP (1 quadrillion)

CP Remaining 2,042,028,000 CP

Worlds Covered 47

Effect Worlds cannot be dimensionally displaced, reality manipulation within them is limited, timeline erasure is prevented

Kafu watched as the anchors deployed—invisible threads of golden light that stretched from New Hope to the distant worlds of the Outer Rim, the Mid Sector, the Inner Core, the Fortress Worlds, and the Varnax territories. Forty-seven worlds, bound together by a network that would protect them from anything short of a Chaos Sovereign.

Kyrella's voice was soft. "You've given them safety."

"I've given them a chance." He looked at her. "Now tell me about Valerius Varnax."

---

THE PATRIARCH'S DEATH

Morana stepped forward, her shadows deepening. "While you were away, Valerius tried to escape. He had hidden allies—beings he had bought with the wealth of twelve worlds. He thought he could break the reversed contract."

Kafu's eyes narrowed. "He tried to betray us again."

"He succeeded in wounding three of our commanders. He killed fifty freed slaves who tried to stop him." Morana's voice was cold. "We could not contain him. So we called you."

Kafu remembered it now—a moment during the trials, when his attention had flickered to the reversed contract. He had felt Valerius's desperation, his fear, his final attempt to escape.

And Kafu had reached through the contract, through the karma threads that bound him to every promise he had ever made, and he had used the power of his sealed Supreme Godless realm to end him.

[SYSTEM EXPLANATION — PATRIARCH ELIMINATION]

Aspect Value

Method Karma Severance through reversed contract

Power Used Supreme Godless (5% draw)

Mechanism Host severed Valerius's karmic threads, erasing him from existence

System Role System acted as conduit, containing the backlash of erasing an Eternal Sovereign

Kafu touched his chest. "I felt it. When I did it, something… pushed back. Something that wanted to erase me too."

[THE BACKLASH — EXPLANATION]

"When a being is erased from existence, existence itself resists. The universe does not want holes in its story. Host's system absorbed the backlash, containing it within the 'super prison' of host's soul."

"Super prison?"

[SYSTEM FEATURE — SOUL PRISON]

Aspect Value

Function Contains the karmic weight of erased beings

Current Capacity 12,000,000 karmic units

Current Load 1 (Valerius Varnax)

Maximum Load 100,000,000 karmic units

"You're saying his soul is trapped inside me."

[NOT HIS SOUL. HIS KARMA. THE WEIGHT OF EVERY PROMISE HE BROKE, EVERY LIFE HE DESTROYED, EVERY BETRAYAL HE COMMITTED. IT IS CONTAINED. BUT IT WILL REMAIN UNTIL HOST IS READY TO PROCESS IT.]

Kafu looked at his hands. "And when I process it?"

[THEN THE KARMA WILL BE DISPERSED. VALERIUS VARNAX WILL TRULY CEASE TO EXIST. NOT EVEN A MEMORY WILL REMAIN.]

---

THE WARNING

Morana's voice cut through the silence. "There is something else. Valerius had allies. Not the ones he bought—the ones he was born to."

She projected a holographic image: a family tree, ancient and vast, with Valerius's name at the bottom.

[THE VARNAX FAMILY — TRUE LINEAGE]

Name Realm Status

Valerius Varnax Eternal Sovereign 3 Erased

Varnax the Elder Supreme Godless In seclusion (10 million years)

Varnax the Ancient Huanyan Life Form In seclusion (100 million years)

The First Varnax Godking In seclusion (1 billion years)

Varnax Prime God Emperor In seclusion (10 billion years)

The Shadow of Varnax Eternal Sovereign 9 Awake — Watching

Kafu's blood ran cold. "There are more of them."

"Twelve children of the Varnax line. Twelve beings who have been in seclusion for longer than civilizations have existed." Morana's shadows flickered. "And one of them is awake. The Shadow of Varnax. He has been watching since you erased his descendant."

[SYSTEM WARNING — IMMINENT THREAT]

"The Shadow of Varnax (Eternal Sovereign 9) has been tracking host since the liberation of the Varnax worlds. He is aware of host's titles, host's power, and host's location. Estimated time to engagement: 30 days."

Kafu's jaw tightened. "Thirty days."

"He is waiting," Morana said. "He wants to see what you become. He wants to see if you are worthy of his attention. And when he decides you are…" She did not finish.

Kafu looked at the city below, at the three million souls who had just found safety, at the forty-seven worlds that were finally free.

"Then I have thirty days to become something that even a being who has lived for ten billion years cannot touch."

He touched the rune on his heart.

"Thirty days until I wake her."

---

THE PLAN

Kafu gathered his wives in the council chamber. Twelve ancestors, twelve beings who had fought beside him, who had loved him, who had waited for him.

"The Shadow of Varnax is coming. Thirty days. We need to be ready."

Kyrella spoke first. "We have the Reality Anchor Network. The worlds are protected. But he is an Eternal Sovereign Level 9. He could destroy them with a thought."

"Then we do not let him think." Kafu activated the holographic map. "We have thirty days to prepare. To train. To become stronger. And when he comes, we will not be waiting. We will be hunting."

Morana smiled. "You want to strike first."

"I want to show him that the Scorpion King does not wait for enemies to come to him."

Sylva's flowers bloomed brighter. "And Makena?"

Kafu touched the rune on his heart. "When she wakes, she will wake to a world that is safe. A world that is free. A world worth waking up to."

He looked at his wives.

"Thirty days. Train. Prepare. And when the Shadow comes…" His gold-red eyes blazed. "We show him why they call me Unkillable."
