Chapter 18 - Somewhere Between Safety and Secrets....

Jay's POV

The moment the jet touched down, I felt it—the shift. Not just the soft jolt of landing, but something deeper… like crossing into a place that didn't belong to my past.

Seoul.

A new city.A new beginning.Or at least… that's what I told myself. The door of the jet opened, and the first thing that hit me wasn't the air—it was the silence. Not empty, but controlled. Organized.

Then I stepped out.And everything changed.

A long red carpet stretched out before us, perfectly aligned, untouched. On both sides—rows of staff, security, officials—standing still, waiting.

And the second Grandpa stepped out—They bowed. All of them.At once.

The sound of synchronized movement, the quiet discipline—it was overwhelming in a way I didn't know how to process.

I froze for a second at the top of the stairs.

Because this—This wasn't normal.

This wasn't just "rich."This was power.Real power.

"Hey…" Percy's voice came softly beside me.

I didn't even realize when he moved closer.

"It's okay," he murmured, his hand lightly brushing mine. "Just walk with me."

I nodded slightly and we stepped forward together.Every step down that carpet felt heavier than the last. Not because of the people—but because of what it meant.

This wasn't just a place. This was where they had brought me to protect me.Which meant—Everything back there was dangerous enough to leave behind.

We reached the end, and I barely registered the greetings, the formal words, the respectful bows.

Everything blurred because my mind was tired. My body even more. The cars were already waiting.

I didn't think—I just followed Percy.

We slipped into the backseat of one, while Dad, Mom, and Grandpa got into the other.

The door shut softly.

And just like that—The noise disappeared.

Only silence remained.

I leaned back slightly, exhaling slowly as the city lights passed by outside the window—bright, unfamiliar, distant.

Percy didn't say anything at first.

He just sat beside me and somehow—that helped more than words.

After a while, he shifted slightly, his shoulder brushing mine.

"You're okay," he said quietly. "Whatever happens here… we're all here with you."

I turned my head just slightly, looking at him.

His expression wasn't forced.Wasn't pretending. It was just… steady and I didn't realize how much I needed that until now.

My head slowly rested against his shoulder.

I didn't even ask.

I just… did it.

His hand came up instantly, resting lightly over mine.Grounding.The city kept moving outside.

But inside the car—Everything slowed down.

My eyes grew heavy.Too heavy and before I could fight it...I drifted.

Percy's POV

I felt it the moment she gave in.

The slight weight of her head settling against my shoulder… the way her breathing evened out slowly.

She was asleep.Finally.

I didn't move.Didn't even shift because right now—Rest mattered more than anything for her.The drive felt longer than it should've been, but I didn't mind.Because for the first time in days—

She looked peaceful.

Not empty. Not broken.Just… resting..and I'd take that over anything. When the car finally slowed, I glanced outside.

We had arrived.

The mansion stood hidden behind layers of security—no direct access, no visible entrance from the outside roads. Just trees, distance, silence.

One of Grandpa's personal bases.Untouchable.The car door opened quietly.I looked down at her.

Still asleep.Good.

Carefully—slowly—I shifted, sliding one arm under her knees and the other behind her back.

She didn't wake.Just leaned into me slightly.

I stepped out, holding her close, her head resting against my chest now and walked inside.

The inside of the mansion was… calm.No noise.No unnecessary movement.Just controlled stillness.I didn't stop.Didn't talk.

I walked straight to her room—the one already prepared. The door opened silently.

Soft lights.Warm tones.Safe.

I laid her down gently on the bed, adjusting the blanket over her, making sure she was comfortable.

For a second—I just stood there.Looking at her.At how small she looked in that space. At how much she had gone through.

My hand moved before I could stop it, brushing a strand of hair away from her face and then I leaned down slightly.Pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.

"I've got you,baby sistah,always and forever..." I whispered.And walked out.

The moment I stepped into the living room, the air shifted again.

Back to reality.

Dad.Mom.Grandpa.All already there.

Talking.Planning.Waiting.

Grandpa looked at me the moment I walked in.

"There's a problem rather a nuisance around us," he said calmly.

I stilled slightly.

"What kind?"

"Someone is trying to track her."

That was enough. My entire focus sharpened.

"Did you find out who?any names you recieved??" I asked.

"Edrix Knight. Rory Abejar."

I exhaled slowly.

"They will never stop, will they...," I said. "I know them grandpa."

All three of them looked at me.

"They're from Section E," I continued. "Hackers. Coders. Tracking is their specialty. It's practically in their bloodlines and family buisness had allowed them to have the access to the bigger database in the world...."

Grandpa didn't hesitate, his knuckles turning white from clenching so hard and then he picked up his phone instantly.

"Lock the servers down," he ordered the moment the call connected. "I want full surveillance. Section E, Watson, Fernandez, Hanamitchi—everyone."

His tone dropped colder.

"One suspicious movement—I want it reported immediately."

He ended the call.No wasted words.

Then—The next phase began.

Doctors.Specialists.

A full team walked in, files in hand, already discussing treatment plans—chemotherapy cycles, monitoring, recovery timelines.

Dad was focused.Mom was listening carefully.

Grandpa was observing everything.I stood there.Listening.But something felt wrong.

Then—Grandpa turned slightly. "Call the therapist."

That's when I stepped forward.

"No."

Three heads turned toward me instantly.

"Why no Percy,it's important for her," Dad said.

"I said no dad,please understand"

He looked at me his face tight and asked "what's going on Percy, explain!".

I took a breath.

"It's too early."

Silence.

"She's barely holding herself together," I continued, my voice steady but firm. "Everything that happened—Section E, Keifer, the collapse—she hasn't processed any of it."

Mom frowned slightly. "But the doctor—"

"I know what the doctor said," I cut in, softer but firm. "But right now? Therapy will push her. Force her to relive everything."

I shook my head.

"That will break her more than ever."

Grandpa's gaze sharpened. "So what do you suggest? We can't just stand by and wait her life's at risk here Percy..."

I didn't hesitate.

"We give her time, grandpa" I said. "We stay with her. We support her. Let her breathe before we make her face everything."

A pause.

Then quieter—

"I'll take her to therapy myself… when she's ready."

Silence filled the room.Heavy.

Then—"Call the doctor,if we are going to delay the therapy it's better to discuss this at hand first for safety measures...." Dad said.

After a detailed discussion, the doctor confirmed it.Therapy could be delayed.

But—

"No stress. No shocks," he warned. "Her environment must remain stable."

We agreed. He left and for the first time since we got here—Things slowed.

Then—We heard soft footsteps.

We all turned and there she was.

Jay.

Standing there in—A bunny night suit.I blinked.

Once.

Twice.

"She actually wore it…" I muttered under my breath.

She walked in slowly, rubbing her eyes, completely unaware of the silence she caused.

"What are you all discussing…?" she asked sleepily, sitting right beside me.

I didn't miss a beat.

"Important decision," I said seriously.

Her eyes widened slightly.

"About what?"

I leaned closer slightly.

"Which movie to watch tonight."

A pause.Then—Her face lit up.

"Wait—really?!"

Dad chuckled.Mom smiled.Grandpa looked away… but I saw it.

The corner of his lips twitching.

"Can we all watch together?" she asked softly.

"All of us?" Mom repeated.

She nodded and just like that—Everything changed.

"Of course," Dad said.

Thirty minutes later—We were all in the living room. And somehow—Everyone was wearing bunny night suits.Even Grandpa.

I looked at him.

He looked at me.

"Don't you dare say a word," he warned.

I raised my hands.

"Not a single one."

Jay was already laughing.

"THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER," she declared.

We sat down.Movie started.Popcorn everywhere.And chaos.

"HEY—that's mine!"

"You took mine first!"

"Percy—stop eating everything!"

"I'm protecting it from you!"

Laughter filled the room.Real laughter. The kind that didn't feel forced.Didn't feel heavy.

Just… alive.

At some point—She fell asleep.Right there between all of us and slowly—

One by one—Everyone settled.Blankets scattered.Food left half-eaten.Lights dim.I looked around.

At Dad.Mom.Grandpa.and Her.

My family.

And something inside me settled.Firm.Unshakable.

"I'll protect this," I whispered under my breath.

"No matter what."Then I leaned back.Closed my eyes and for the first time in a long time—

We all slept.Together.Safe.Happy.

For now.....
