Nico stood alone against the swarm, ready to fight.
Meanwhile, the car sped through the dark road.
Suddenly—
The engine died.
The car jerked forward and came to a stop.
"What happened?!" Ron shouted.
"The fuel tank… it's empty," the driver said, his voice shaking.
Silence filled the car.
Fear crept in again.
They were stranded.
Out there.
Alone.
Then—
A loud horn echoed through the empty road.
HONK! HONK!
Everyone turned at once.
Headlights cut through the darkness.
A vehicle approached fast… and stopped right in front of them.
The door opened.
Ron's eyes widened.
"Nico…?!"
Standing there—alive—was Nico.
And beside him… Kai.
For a moment, no one spoke.
Then relief hit them all at once.
"You're alive!" Ron rushed forward. "How did you survive?!"
Nico exchanged a glance with Kai.
Flashback
Just as the creatures surrounded Nico—
A loud engine roared.
A college bus crashed through the swarm, scattering the creatures.
Kai leaned out from the driver's seat.
"Get in if you want to live!"
With no time to think, Nico jumped aboard.
Together, they fought off the remaining creatures and escaped.
Present
"We don't have time," Kai said quickly. "Where's Sandy?"
Ron's expression fell.
"She's losing a lot of blood…"
Without wasting another second, they moved.
They got into the bus and rushed toward the nearest hospital.
The hospital gates came into view.
Hope.
Finally.
They carried Sandy inside.
"Please! Help her!" Ron shouted.
Doctors and staff rushed forward—but then suddenly stopped.
They looked at them… carefully.
Suspicious.
"You can't come in," one of them said firmly.
"What?!" Ron snapped. "She's dying!"
"We don't know if you're infected," the doctor replied. "Stay back."
The words hit harder than anything.
Fear.
Anger.
Helplessness.
Sandy needed help—
But they weren't allowed inside
