[Spiritual Root Information]

How do spiritual roots work?

Spiritual roots are the primary means by which a cultivator absorbs the spiritual energy present in heaven and earth. They originate from the Five Elements that form the foundation of heaven and earth.

Can there be variants, such as lightning or wind?

The answer is no. However, evolution is possible within the world.

For example, those with a water spiritual root can evolve it into ice with the necessary resources or extract the fundamental principles required for this transformation. At the most basic level, it is possible to solidify water using spiritual power, creating ice.

[Note: Why not follow the classic approach and include multiple mutant or hidden roots? The answer is that I don't think that works. In a universe whose origin lies in the Five Elements, why would people be born with mutant roots? That doesn't make sense to me. Since sub-elements evolve from the Five Elements, it makes more sense that cultivators themselves find ways to evolve.]

Spiritual Root Levels.

Spiritual roots are divided into eight grades. The denser the root, the easier it is to harmonize with heaven and earth.

The grades are:

Low Grade

Upper Low Grade

Lower-Mid Grade

Intermediate Grade

Upper Intermediate Grade

Lower High Grade

High Grade

Perfect Grade (also known as Heavenly Root)

Can people with low qualifications ascend to higher realms?

The answer is yes. Spiritual roots determine absorption capacity and foundational direction. With sufficient resources, it is possible to overcome the limitations of one's roots.

So why do cultivators value spiritual roots so much?

The answer is simple: the more perfect your spiritual root, the closer you are to heaven and earth, allowing you to absorb vast amounts of spiritual energy quickly. A heavenly genius may cultivate up to a thousand times faster than someone with a low-grade root.

Does having a good spiritual root make you unstoppable?

The answer is no. A spiritual root may be excellent, but understanding the Five Elements is what truly matters for the strong.

Why?

Cultivation requires solid foundations—not only for combat, but in general. Imagine a fragile bucket receiving a torrent of water at high speed—it would shatter instantly. Immortal cultivation is the same: without a suitable vessel, the body would likely explode from the spiritual energy.

This is where foundations come in. Understanding one's spiritual root allows a cultivator to withstand this power within the dantian without destroying it.
