Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11: THE MASTERY

Aren woke on Sunday morning to a quiet Annex and a full reservoir.

[CL: 110/110]

He sat on the edge of his bed and opened the interface. The unclaimed rewards from the previous week pulsed gold, waiting.

[WEEKLY QUEST: FOUNDATION PROTOCOL | WEEK 3 | STATUS: COMPLETE] [REWARDS PENDING: +1 AP | +1 FATIGUE RECOVERY POTION | +20 IC | +2 RP]

[DAILY TASKS ACCUMULATED: 7 DAYS (WEEK 3)] [REWARDS PENDING: +35 SP | +14 IC | +7 RP]

He claimed them.

[CLAIM ALL? Y/N]

Y.

The golden text cascaded:

[+1 AP] [+1 FATIGUE RECOVERY POTION] [+50 SP] (191 → 241) [+34 IC] (258 → 292) [+9 RP] (27 → 36)

Then, deeper in the amber notifications—adaptation, not reward:

[PHYSICAL ADAPTATION: CONTINUED EXERTION DETECTED] [AGILITY +1 | 19 → 20]

[COGNITIVE ADAPTATION: SUSTAINED AMPLIFIED PROCESSING DETECTED] [INTELLIGENCE +5 | 105 → 110] [CL MAXIMUM: 110 → 110]

Aren exhaled. The morning routine—stairs, squats, the mechanical precision of movement—had forged AGI 20. The week of burning Superbrain for lecture comprehension, of pushing past normal cognitive limits, had expanded his base intelligence without spending a single AP.

He now had 2 AP available. He allocated them immediately—physical infrastructure to match his cognitive dominance.

[STR: 16 → 17] (+1 AP) [STA: 19 → 20] (+1 AP)

He checked his consolidated status:

[AREN VALE] [STAGE: 1 - FOUNDATION] [STR: 17 | AGI: 20 | STA: 20 | INT: 110] [CL: 110/110] [AP: 0] (spent on STR and STA) [SP: 241] [IC: 292] [RP: 36] [SC: 4,012]

The Weekly Exchange Limit had reset at midnight.

[EXCHANGE: 20 SC → 2,000 VELTRIONS? Y/N]

Y.

[SC: 4,012 → 3,992] [BANK: 3,951 → 5,951 VELTRIONS]

Minus food and tram fares for the week: 5,830 Veltrions remaining.

He transferred nothing to the brokerage. He did not activate the skill. The 6,000V opportunity remained untouched. Patience.

Instead, he messaged the team group chat:

"Clarification on the competition structure. We don't need trading capital. This is a university-level proposal competition for genius-track students—we submit licenses, a business proposal, and a presentation. If selected, the host company buys the proposal for 10,000 Veltrions total. That's 2,500 each. Plus 5% yearly profit share. We only spent money on the blue-tier clearance. The rest of my liquidity is for my own operations. I've done my part for the team. I will wait and focus on individual preparation."

Garrett replied with a thumbs-up. Mira sent a confirmation. They understood. The Sovereign Protocol was not a team asset.

The week passed quickly. Monday to Saturday: Morning Foundation Protocol (now effortless with AGI 20 and STA 20), lectures absorbed via Photographic Memory, evenings alone in the carrel reviewing competition case studies without burning Superbrain. He conserved CL 110 like a full tank of fuel.

He did not trade. He did not activate Stock Foresight.

The team coordinated via chat—Garrett refining financial models, Sera optimizing supply chains, Leo cross-referencing regulatory minutiae. Aren contributed the green-tier customs strategy from his perfect recall.

Saturday evening, the final team meeting at Mira's apartment:

"We're locked," Mira said. "Blue-tier clearance approved. Proposal solid. We submit Sunday—tomorrow."

"Good," Aren said. "After tomorrow, I vanish. University qualifying exams start in three weeks. I need every hour for individual study. Sovereign University scholarship requirements are unforgiving."

"You've done your part," Sera said. "The logistics node is the only reason this works."

Aren nodded. He left with 5,830 Veltrions in his account and the discipline to know that 1/2 uses remaining was more valuable than a forced trade.

Next Sunday morning.

Aren woke alone in the Annex. The previous day's competition submission was complete—the proposal submitted, the presentation delivered, the judges nodding at the blue-tier efficiency. Results would come Friday.

He opened the interface.

[WEEKLY QUEST: FOUNDATION PROTOCOL | WEEK 4 | STATUS: COMPLETE] [REWARDS PENDING: +1 AP | +1 FATIGUE RECOVERY POTION | +20 IC | +2 RP]

[DAILY TASKS ACCUMULATED: 7 DAYS (WEEK 4)] [REWARDS PENDING: +35 SP | +14 IC | +7 RP]

[CLAIM ALL? Y/N]

Y.

[+1 AP] (0 → 1) [+1 FATIGUE RECOVERY POTION] (now 3 total) [+50 SP] (241 → 291) [+34 IC] (292 → 326) [+9 RP] (36 → 45)

[EXCHANGE: 20 SC → 2,000 VELTRIONS? Y/N]

Y.

[SC: 3,992 → 3,972] [BANK: 5,830 → 7,830 → 7,750 VELTRIONS] (after food/tram expenses)

Then, a new interface section unlocked—Knowledge Mastery, separate from skills, separate from stats:

[KNOWLEDGE MASTERY SECTION UNLOCKED] [TRACKING REAL COMPETENCE, NOT SYSTEM ASSISTANCE]

[BUSINESS MASTERY: LEVEL 2/5] "First-year high-level university competence. Strategic planning, market analysis, organizational theory. Source: Vane's mentorship + Competition preparation."

[ECONOMY: LEVEL 2/5] "First-year high-level university competence. Macroeconomic theory, sovereign debt mechanics, trade policy. Source: Advanced coursework + Ledger study."

[SCIENCE: LEVEL 1/5] "Academy-level competence. Basic physics, chemistry principles. Source: Standard curriculum."

[MATHEMATICS: LEVEL 1/5] "Academy-level competence. Calculus, statistical analysis. Source: Standard curriculum."

[LANGUAGE (NATIVE): LEVEL 2/5] "University-level fluency. Rhetoric, technical writing, persuasive structure. Source: Extensive reading."

[LANGUAGE (ENGLISH): LEVEL 1/5] "Academy-level competence. Functional literacy, basic conversation. Source: Standard curriculum."

[NOTE: LEVEL PROGRESSION] [LEVEL 1: ACADEMY/HIGH SCHOOL STANDARD] [LEVEL 2: UNIVERSITY FIRST-YEAR ADVANCED] [LEVEL 3: MASTER'S DEGREE EQUIVALENT] [LEVEL 4: PHD EQUIVALENT] [LEVEL 5: PINNACLE—GLOBAL EXPERTISE]

Aren studied the list. His Business and Economy knowledge had crossed the threshold from Academy rote-memorization to genuine university-level understanding. His native language had sharpened through The Sovereign's Ledger.

But Science and Math remained at Level 1—adequate for exams, insufficient for innovation. English was barely functional.

[FINAL STATUS: AREN VALE] [STAGE: 1 - FOUNDATION] [STR: 17 | AGI: 20 | STA: 20 | INT: 110] [CL: 110/110] [AP: 1] (unspent) [SP: 291] [IC: 326] [RP: 45] [SC: 3,972] [BANK: 7,750 VELTRIONS] [SKILLS: SUPERBRAIN (Lv1) | STOCK FORESIGHT (Lv1, 1/2 USES)] [MILESTONE: 1/5 TRADES TOWARD 50K UNLOCK] [PASSIVE: PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY] [INVENTORY: 3 FATIGUE RECOVERY POTIONS]

The competition results would arrive in five days. The university exams in three weeks. And somewhere in the distance, the 50,000 Veltrion trade unlock waited at 1/5 progress, patient as stone.
