Chapter 29 - CHAPTER 28: THE WIND KINGDOM

A man in his early 60's looking outside the window and gaze upon the city from his castle. He is after all the king of Wind Kingdom, King Mauve Kyanite. A heavy sighed left out from his mouth. He is the firstborn in the family, and he have three other siblings: two sister and a little brother. When he had been crowned as the king, he married with one of the wind clan noble and have three children. His firstborn child is a girl and the other two is his son. The rule stated that the first son or daughter will inherit his name and will become the ruler of the Wind Kingdom. He really worries if his daughter cannot carry out the responsibility as the ruler as most of his royal court seems to oppose a woman as their ruler. He really blesses with a good son as both know very well that their sister is capable to rules and they just want to support her from behind.

"Father, what are you doing?" A woman in the late 20's asked him.

"Lawenda, have a seat. I'm just enjoying the view from here." Mauve said and invited his daughter to sit next to him.

"Where your mother?" Mauve asked.

"She at the courtyard looking at her flowers." Lawenda replied.

"Forest and Lime?" Mauve added again.

"Properly, sneaking out from the palace again. You know those two." Lawenda rolled her eyes. Mauve laughed.

"I don't know how they got that naughtiness. But they remind me of your little uncle." Mauve said.

"I have uncle?" Lawenda surprised.

"Yes, you have one. He's my little brother." Mauve said.

"Why anyone never tell me? Even in this castle there are no portrait of him." Lawenda wondered.

"You two aunt didn't want to mention him because they feel he betray our family by marrying another clan. Most of his portrait all being burn by your aunt except one in my care. I love him because he the one that always encourage me if I feel down or being stress by the royal courts. He never like this royalty kind of life either. He's like the freedom." Mauve said.

"But why telling me this now? Are you alright, father?" Lawenda becomes worried. Mauve chuckles.

"I'm fine and I don't know either. It is just the right time to tell you about it. Maybe when we going to the Elem kingdom, we can meet your uncle there." Mauve said.

"You really miss him, aren't you?" Lawenda said making Mauve nod. Mauve walk toward his desk and pulled out a worn letter. He gives it to Lawenda for her to read it. Lawenda read it out.

To Brother Mauve,

Brother, thank you for raising me but my heart already belongs to someone. Sister Spring and Sister Pear might hate me, but you all are my family. I don't like the girl they introduce to me. So, I decide to elope with the love of my life. We will be heading toward Elem kingdom and built a new life there. I don't mind about my royalty status. If the royal court deem, I'm not worth it, they can strip me out. But one thing for sure, I always think you all still my family even though we are apart. Maybe someday we meet again and I hope our child can be close like us.

Your foolish little brother,

La####

Lawenda cannot read the name of her uncle as the word already smear with tears. She read it and her heart confirm that her uncle really is a kind and caring man. In her heart, she also wishes that she can meet him and want to see what kind of man his uncle is.

"Father, uncle married with which clan?" Lawenda asked.

"The dark clan. I don't know either she is noble or commoner but maybe from the Dark Peace faction." Mauve guessed.

"Have you meet her?" Lawenda asked.

"Once before your uncle run away from home. He introduces her to me. She beautiful and have wild spirit like you uncle." Mauve replied.

"What her name?" she asked again.

"I'm forgot her name." Mauve said sheepishly and laughed out.

"Do you think we can meet him there?" Lawenda said.

"Maybe." Mauve shrugged.

"I wish this Colheita Festival we can meet with each other. Maybe I have more cousin." Lawenda wished. Mauve just smiles.

"How the preparation?" Mauve asked.

"On the schedules. We only have a few things to settle before attending the Colheita Festival." Lawenda answered.

"Lawenda, you're in the right age to marry. Your aunt also introduces to you some of their friend's son. As the first princess of Wind Kingdom, you need to have a husband before you can inherit my crown." Mauve said.

"Your father is right. Both of us are at the old age already. We also want to have grandchildren to play with." A woman in early 60's interrupted.

Lawenda smiles bitterly. She knows her responsibility as the princess of Wind Kingdom, but her heart also wants to be free to choose her own partner. She sighed heavily.

"Is there any guy you like in the kingdom?" Mauve asked looking at her only daughter. Lawenda just stays silent.

"You have, are you?" the woman stated.

"Midnight…" Mauve said. Lawenda widens her eyes and looks at the woman which also her mother.

"Even if I have, what the use. I still need to choose my partner from my own clan. If not, I cannot inherit your crown." Lawenda sighed. Mauve smile with relief. His daughter finally found someone she wants to be with.

"The rule state that if you be crowned as the ruler you need to have a husband. But it never said that you need to choose from the wind clan. You are free to choose whoever you want, and we never said your husband must be a noble." Mauve replied.

"But… Aunt and the minister…" Lawenda tried to deny.

"If they want to argue, let them be. There are no black and white saying this kind of rule. I am the king and if they disobey me because of some unofficial make up rule like that, I will banish them from the royal court. Even they are my own bloodline." Mauve said.

"Isn't your brother run away because of that?" Midnight puzzled.

"Never. He's a free spirit person. He just doesn't like to be confine in one place. If you want to know what kind of guy he is, you just need to look at our twin. They behaviour are splitting image of my brother." Mauve said proudly. Midnight just shakes her head.

"So, who's that lucky guy?" Midnight asked. Lawenda blush.

"Mother… Is it alright if he isn't from this kingdom?" Lawenda said.

"Oh my… Who is the lucky guy?" Midnight teased.

"He's from Elem Kingdom?" Mauve guessed.

"Yes." Lawenda replied. Mauve smiles.

"Then introduce to us when we going to Colheita Festival afterward." Mauve said.

"I try." Lawenda answered with a wide smile on her face. She happy her parent considers her choice.
