Evelyn Grant had no desire to play along with Julian Sterling's act.
Right now, all she wanted was for this to be over so she could get away from him.
Once her mother and brother finally finished eating, Evelyn Grant saw her chance. "Mom, I'm going to get the check."
But she had barely stepped out when Julian Sterling followed right behind her!
"I'll get it."
He spoke in that same gentle voice.
But they weren't in the private room anymore! Evelyn Grant didn't have to hold back any longer.
"That's enough! Julian Sterling, what's the point of all this?"
"What have I done? I just want to get closer to your family, to make up for neglecting them in the past. Is that so wrong?"
"I don't need you making up for anything! Let me remind you again, we are divorced!"
