Megan Kane lounged on a recliner, leisurely enjoying life.
She felt her grand escape plan slowly unfolding before her, just waiting for the right moment.
Mr. and Mrs. Kane, however, had no real desire to flee with their daughter. They were worried that if they brought her along, they themselves would end up trapped here.
"Megan Kane, what are you still doing here? Get to the hospital, now! It's bad."
"I don't know what happened, but he just called, absolutely furious."
"He said there's a limit to how much trouble you two can cause."
Clutching her phone, Rowan Monroe rushed over in a panic, not daring to stop for even a second.
It was hard to imagine what could have happened to make her this frantic.
"Could you try to be a little more composed? What's with all this stumbling around? Don't you have any of the grace of a proper lady?"
"Besides, that's what the big shots are for. What are you so scared of? Do I look scared? Just lie down and get some proper rest."
'What else could the villainess and the pure-hearted first love possibly do besides pull their cliché, melodramatic stunts? I'll handle whatever comes my way. Nothing to worry about.'
"You don't know? Blair White is in the hospital! She said she was harassed by some thugs, and that last night you're the one who kept Jason Forrester from going to her."
"If that wasn't enough, all the thugs confessed that you hired them. They even leaked your bank transfer records!"
"This whole mess is laid out right in front of you. Why aren't you rushing to the hospital? Are you trying to get yourself killed by staying here?"
'Rowan Monroe had no idea her best friend's mindset was now to just let it all burn. Was she planning on taking everyone down with her?!'
"What was that? I let my guard down for one second and she sets me up with a whole frame job?"
"Is her family in the business of full-service frame-ups or something?"
"What are you standing there gawking for? Hurry up, let's get ready and go to the hospital."
All her earlier composure gone, Megan Kane ran back to grab a straw hat before bolting out the door.
Rowan Monroe blinked. 'I don't really need to go, do I? Nobody actually asked me.'
After running for quite a while, Megan Kane still hadn't seen any sign of Rowan Monroe.
She knew that shrewd woman had definitely bailed on her.
'As if Rowan Monroe would ever stick with me through thick and thin,' she thought. 'I was getting ahead of myself.'
The hospital room was packed, and the cacophony of voices made it impossible to hear anything clearly.
Megan Kane burst through the door, immediately knocking some old woman to the ground.
Without a single glance, she barreled through the crowd until she reached Blair White's bedside, where she dropped to her knees with a loud THUD.
"Miss White, what in the world happened? Please don't frame a nobody like me! I was home all night yesterday!"
"I've had a harder life than you since we were kids! How can you just pin all the blame on me like this?"
"Are you holding some kind of grievance in your heart? There are so many people here right now. If you speak up, they can all back you up."
"Go on, say something! Don't just stay silent."
Megan Kane paid no mind as her hands slowly crept up to the other woman's neck.
Blair White's face turned beet red. She wanted to speak, but she was on the verge of suffocating.
She frantically slapped the side of her bed, and only then did everyone snap out of it and hurriedly pull Megan Kane away.
"What are you doing?! Are you trying to murder her in front of everyone?"
No one could believe the woman before them would commit such an outrageous act.
"Murder? What murder? You all framed me! I just came to visit the patient!"
"My sincerity was completely wasted on you! You people are so unreasonable! You're just ganging up on me because you have the numbers!"
"I was clearly here to visit the patient, but you all insist on calling it murder! How can anyone in this world be so absurd?"
"This is bullying! It makes no sense!"
Megan Kane burst into tears on cue, throwing a full-blown tantrum and rolling on the floor, completely ignoring everyone's stares.
Her outburst caught everyone completely off guard. They didn't know how to react, exchanging glances, but no one dared to step forward.
Blair White still hadn't caught her breath, continuously patting her chest.
A moment ago, she had come dangerously close to suffocating.
She barely had the energy to speak.
"What's going on? What is it now?"
Jason Forrester had been stuck in traffic on his way over. He never expected to walk in on such a bizarre scene.
Blair White sat on the bed, gasping for air.
Megan Kane was rolling around on the floor, wailing her eyes out. It was impossible to tell who was in the right and who was in the wrong.
"I came to apologize just like you told me to, and they all ganged up on me and started kicking me! Just look at me..."
Megan Kane completely ignored the bizarre look on Jason Forrester's face.
"You're lying! That's absolute nonsense!"
Everyone became agitated. How could she lie so brazenly, right in front of them? So many people were watching!
"How am I lying? You're all in this together! Besides, there are no cameras here, so people will just believe whatever you say."
"You're all completely unreasonable! You're worse than a den of thieves!"
Megan Kane's main strategy was to go absolutely feral. As long as no one could out-crazy her, she wouldn't be the one left feeling awkward.
Everyone was stunned into silence by her tirade, stammering and unable to come up with a rebuttal.
They couldn't understand how this woman had so much to say.
She could twist the truth with a straight face, completely disregarding the facts.
They were sure it would be impossible to find anyone in the world more shameless than the woman before them.
"Miss Kane, are you sure you're the one who's been wronged? You came over and grabbed my throat, trying to choke the life out of me. Before I could even react, you collapsed on the floor and started throwing a tantrum."
"I don't know who's being unreasonable here. I don't know who's twisting the truth. And I don't know who's so shameless they can't even tell right from wrong anymore."
"First you hire thugs, and now you rush into the hospital to strangle me. Do you really have to kill me to be satisfied?"
"Miss Kane, look me in the eye and tell me, how exactly did I offend you? Tell me! I honestly have no idea what I did to set you off."
"Will you only stop once you've killed me?"
On the bed, Blair White burst into tears, her wails even louder than Megan Kane's.
Megan Kane didn't hold back either. She just sat on the floor and cried her heart out. "This is absurd! The unreasonable one is playing the victim! Is there any justice left in this world?"
The two of them cried louder and louder. There was nothing delicate or pitiful about it; they howled so hard they left everyone in the room completely stunned.
Jason Forrester looked at the fruit basket in his hand, threw it on the ground in disgust, and stalked off. He never should have come.
'Neither of them has a sane bone in their body,' he thought. 'They're both completely unhinged and probably have no idea what they're even saying.'
