Sean Quinn waited until Reaper Yates was asleep, then quietly left the room. He saw Stella Lockwood curled up on the leather sofa, shivering uncontrollably. He hurried to adjust the room temperature, then dimmed the lights. Sitting down on the armchair beside her, he watched her sleeping deeply, but he could still hear her murmuring, "So cold, so cold…"
He went to find another blanket—Reaper Yates couldn't stand the heat, so the temperature in the house was always kept very low. When he returned, he gently draped it over her. He stood beside her and glanced at her for a moment before looking toward the study.
Ten years had passed. The three of them were sleeping under the same roof again. But everything had changed. They weren't the same people they used to be, and she had become inscrutable and mysterious, impossible to read.
