Seraphina Ashworth reached out and took the wooden box, examining it closely. A blooming lotus was exquisitely carved into its center, but otherwise, it looked unremarkable.
Just as Seraphina Ashworth's brow furrowed, she extended the slender fingers of one hand. With the other, she formed a blade from energy and pricked her fingertip. A crimson drop of blood fell onto the golden lotus emblem in the center of the box. With a CLICK, the box opened. It instantly began to transform as a dazzling red light suddenly erupted.
Everyone in the living room squinted against the piercing, brilliant red light.
A few minutes later, the red light slowly subsided, revealing an aqua-blue pearl resting in the center of the box. Ancient runes were carved upon its surface, and faint streams of light seemed to float and flicker within, creating an iridescent glow.
