Yang Qi noticed that the man was wearing an inconspicuous string of dark wooden beads on his wrist. On one of the beads was an extremely faint, tiny carving that resembled the scale of a lizard or a pangolin.
'The target, Pangolin?'
Something clicked in Yang Qi's mind, but his face remained impassive.
He set down his water glass and casually walked over to a nearby bookshelf. He pulled out a magazine and began flipping through it, all while continuing to observe the man from the corner of his eye.
A moment later, the man finished the video, put away his tablet, and stood up, heading in the direction of the restroom.
Yang Qi didn't follow immediately. Instead, he waited for about half a minute before unhurriedly heading in the same direction.
As he passed a fire exit, he quickly keyed a string of code into a seemingly ordinary notepad app on his phone—the prearranged signal.
