Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Wind in My Hand Has a Shape

After Chen Mengyan left, Su Chen's thoughts turned to his luxury car. Using the information provided by the system, he found the key to the Aston Martin DBX707 in a cabinet by the entryway, just as expected.

A man's three great loves are, without a doubt, cars, guns, and balls!

Looking at the Aston Martin DBX707 key in his hand, Su Chen didn't feel it was particularly stunning. The oval design and partial crystal casing gave it a rather simple look.

After fiddling with it for a moment, Su Chen couldn't wait to go to the garage and see the first luxury car of his life.

He knew from a previous chat with Chen Mengyan that his house came with five private parking spaces. He figured his new ride was parked in one of them.

"My Aston Martin, where are you!" Su Chen muttered to himself.

Soon, Su Chen arrived at his private parking spaces. A yellow SUV was parked quietly in one of the spots.

"Holy crap, this color is too cool!"

The entirely yellow exterior was exactly to his liking.

As for the car's specs and design, Su Chen was completely clueless.

For a wage slave who was still scrambling for money just yesterday, an Aston Martin was something he wouldn't dare to dream of. At most, he'd watch videos about them online to satisfy his curiosity.

Su Chen's original plan was just to earn some money and buy an affordable commuter car.

He circled the Aston Martin several times before finally opening the door with satisfaction and getting in.

The interior was quite unique. It was two-toned—Phantom Grey and Ivory White—creating a striking contrast with the yellow exterior.

"Holy crap, where's the ignition on this thing!" Su Chen looked all around the steering wheel but couldn't find the push-to-start button.

After searching for a bit... Su Chen finally found that the start button was on the center console.

'Alright... I guess I'm a little behind the times!'

"DBX707... engage!" Su Chen yelled with cringey excitement, his index finger pressing the start button.

"VROOOM~ VROOOM~"

The signature roar of the Aston Martin instantly filled the garage, and Su Chen immediately felt goosebumps prickle his arms.

That overwhelming feeling... Su Chen couldn't find any words to describe it.

"This is so freakin' cool!"

Su Chen gripped the steering wheel tightly, muttering "slowly release the brake, gently press the gas" under his breath.

The Aston Martin DBX707 slowly pulled out of the parking space.

Even though Su Chen had come to Shanghai to make a living right after high school, it didn't stop him from getting his driver's license.

He had his first job to thank for that—a night security guard. The pay wasn't great, but he had a lot of free time, especially since he could slack off and sleep during the night shift.

He remembered an older security guard giving him the advice, saying something along the lines of "another skill is another path in life."

So, Su Chen would slack off and sleep at work at night, then head to driving school during the day. He got his license in less than two months.

As for why he was nervous driving... for one, he hadn't driven a car in years since getting his license. Plus, this was a luxury car worth millions. If he scratched or dented it, wouldn't he be devastated?

It would be a lie to say he wasn't flustered at first, but after driving on the road for a while, Su Chen gradually got the hang of it.

His speed went from 70 to 80, then to 90 miles per hour, and the wind rushed past his hand.

He steered with his right hand, his left resting on the open window, fingers slightly curled... feeling the wind's caress.

"Mmm~ I bet I've got C-cups by now!"

「7:15 PM!」

「Hao You Lai Food Stall!」

"Brother Wei, where the hell is that son of a bitch Su Chen? Is he bailing on us? Don't tell me he packed up and skipped town this afternoon!"

"Yeah, he said 7 o'clock. It's fifteen minutes past now. The waitress has even come by a few times to ask if we want to start the food. Why don't you give Brother Cheen a call, Brother Wei?"

Yang Wei frowned. This place was incredibly popular; getting a table at night was nearly impossible.

If it weren't for the fact that their little group were regulars here, they would have been told to give up the private room long ago.

When Su Chen sent the location in the afternoon, Yang Wei had even called him specifically to confirm the time and place.

He never would have thought the man of the hour himself would be late!

'Did something happen to him?' As delivery drivers with years of experience, they all had the basic professional courtesy of being on time.

"I'll call Su Chen and see if he ran into trouble on the road."

Just as Yang Wei said that, before he could even dial the number, the door to the private room opened and Su Chen poked his head in.

"Sorry, guys. I was so wiped out from packing up my rental this afternoon that I took a nap... Didn't expect to sleep until past six, and then I hit a ton of traffic on the way here!"

"Holy crap... Su Chen, you finally made it! We were about to die waiting for you," said the one known as Haozi, one of his few good friends.

"Brother Cheen!" two others chimed in.

The two who called him "Brother Cheen" were Li Chao and Liang San. They were two or three years younger than Su Chen and had also come out to work right after high school.

Su Chen was something of a mentor to Li Chao and Liang San, teaching them a lot of tricks of the trade, just as Yang Wei had once taught him.

Their small group consisted of just five people, all from the Sichuan-Chongqing region. After all, when you're far from home... sticking together is the most basic rule of survival.

After a bit of simple chatter, Su Chen called the waitress over to start bringing the food.

"I just ordered some random dishes, not sure if they're what you guys like. If there's anything else you want, just tell the waitress and add it. Don't worry about saving me money. There's only one rule for today... eat well and drink well!"

"Brother Cheen is so generous~"

"We're making Brother Cheen spend too much today!"

Seeing how excited they were, Yang Wei took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and passed one to each person. Only then did he turn to Su Chen and ask, "Did you get everything packed up at your rental today? Are you planning to leave tomorrow?"

Su Chen took the cigarette, lit it immediately, and took a deep drag before slowly saying, "It's all packed. I'm not leaving just yet. I'm planning to stay in Shanghai for a few more days. I've been in Shanghai for so many years, but I've never really taken a good look at this international metropolis. I want to spend a couple of days exploring and seeing the world."

Su Chen wasn't in a hurry to go back to his hometown. His grandmother's birthday banquet wasn't until the middle of next month, so he still had about twenty days. There was plenty of time.

"You really should take a good look around. After we say goodbye this time... who knows if we'll ever have a chance to meet again!" People get sentimental when they reach middle age, and Yang Wei was no exception.

"We definitely will, and I believe it won't be too long!" Su Chen said, a smile playing on his lips.

'I wonder... the next time we meet, will Brother Wei and the others be shocked speechless when they see how much I've changed!' At this thought, the smile on Su Chen's lips widened.
