Jia Ru and Shen Ming brought the dishes to the table. Once the family was seated, Shen Ming said to Jia Lian, "Looks like my brother-in-law is doing well for himself. You guys even bought a Mercedes."
The table fell silent in an instant. Jia Lian, who had been talking to Jia Ru, turned her head and said, "With his paltry salary? No way he could afford a Mercedes."
Before she could finish, Shen Ming cut in, "You're kidding. Don't tell me Minmin bought it?"
He knew Shen Meng too well. Plus, she used to send money home every month, so the family had a good idea of her income. There was no way she could afford a Mercedes, so it never even crossed Shen Ming's mind that the car might belong to his own daughter.
Wu Min's expression immediately soured. The question brought back unpleasant memories. That Mercedes made her own little hot hatch feel completely inadequate every time she drove it.
