Gao Yuan cut straight to the chase.
In response, Jay Chou simply called Gao Yuan directly.
After exchanging a few words, Gao Yuan learned the reason for the call.
It turned out that a friend of a friend of Jay Chou's friend was having a birthday today. They had invited Jay Chou, and after seeing his concert two days ago, they wanted to invite Gao Yuan as well.
Hearing this, Gao Yuan realized the birthday person likely had a significant background. Otherwise, with so many degrees of separation, Jay Chou would have probably refused.
But since Jay Chou was making this call, it was clear he hadn't refused; in fact, he had taken the initiative to contact Gao Yuan on their behalf.
"I think I'll pass."
Gao Yuan said, turning down the offer.
He wasn't familiar with the social circles in Shanghai, and since the birthday person had a prominent background, they would surely be hard to please. He didn't lack money, so he had no desire to get involved in such festivities.
