The night was still.
Amelia Finch lay on the bed, surrounded by a profound silence, broken only by the occasional sound of the tide from The Abyssal Maw.
She reached out, tracing a hand over her still-flat abdomen. It felt surreal.
'Lately, it's been an endless cycle of eating and vomiting,' Amelia thought. 'This little one is absolutely torturous. If this keeps up, I suspect Willow will be forced to take matters into her own hands.'
Thankfully, she had finally been able to keep food down for the past two days. It had kept Willow terribly busy, and her sister's expression had been as dark as The Abyssal Maw itself.
Amelia turned her head to look at Willow, who was asleep on a simple, makeshift cot. A faint smile touched her lips.
Ever since Willow learned about the baby, she had stopped sharing a bed with her. The cave wasn't large, so she had built a simple cot to sleep on beside Amelia, telling her to call out immediately if she needed anything.
