Hearing Felix Grant's teasing words, Shalma Hughes offered a helpless smile. "It seems Mr. Grant made the right call banishing you to the Zanthos Branch. You don't seem nearly as uptight as you used to be."
"Of course. With Mr. Grant putting so much thought into it, I obviously had to change. If I hadn't been so reserved back then, I don't think you would have ended up as Julian Winslow's wife," Felix continued, laying it on thick.
To Shalma, such words were nothing more than a joke. "I doubt my little operation here has the capacity to accommodate you," she said. "You know Mr. Grant's methods better than I do. The Hughes Group can't afford to make enemies unnecessarily."
"Shalma, I won't lie to you. No company in Aethelgard dares to hire me now. My old man has already put the word out. My only options are The Hughes Group or Winslow Corp. You don't actually want me to go work for your husband, do you?" Felix said helplessly.
