Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Hello, Sister-in-law. My Surname is Bai, My Name is Dagua

"Shut up! Write a prescription!" Jace ordered, his eyes cold.

"You got it! Right away." Despite being snapped at, the man looked thrilled.

Phoebe Faulkner glanced from the doctor before them to Jace Lennox. Not wanting anyone to misunderstand her relationship with him, she wiggled her fingers, trying to pull her hand free from his grasp.

But the moment she moved, Jace shot her a look so cold it froze her in place, and she didn't dare try again.

"Boss, what was the prescription for again?" The man, who had been so excited just a moment ago, picked up his pen to write the order, only to realize he had no idea what was wrong with the Sister-in-law his boss was holding hands with.

So, he could only ask with a look of utter confusion.

Jace Lennox kicked out at Dr. Whitecoat. "For her face. Something for the swelling!"

"Oh, oh, right." Even after being kicked, Dr. Whitecoat remained cheerful.

Phoebe Faulkner's gloomy mood was lifted by Dr. Whitecoat's dorky, amusing antics.

After writing the prescription, Dr. Whitecoat handed it to Jace Lennox with a grin. "Boss, just take this to the pharmacy outside to get it filled."

"Sit here for a minute. I'll be right back," Jace said before taking the prescription and walking out.

Only Dr. Whitecoat and Phoebe Faulkner were left in the consultation room. Phoebe saw Dr. Whitecoat studying her with a curious expression, just like that man with the chewing gum outside the hotel, and she couldn't help but touch her own face.

"Sister-in-law, hello! My last name is White, first name… Coat. Just like my name implies, I'm a doctor. Everyone calls me Whitecoat. You're the first woman the Boss has brought to see me in all these years. Are you his fiancée? Or...?"

"Dr. Whitecoat, you've misunderstood. There's nothing between Mr. Lennox and me. We just happened to run into each other, and he…"

Just as Phoebe was about to explain, Jace Lennox's voice suddenly came from outside. "The medicine's ready. We can go."

Hearing his voice, Phoebe Faulkner nodded at Dr. Whitecoat and turned to leave.

Once outside, Phoebe saw Jace standing not too far away. She hesitated for a moment before walking over to him. "Mr. Lennox, I'm fine. You didn't have to go out of your way to get me medicine."

Hearing this, Jace swept a cold glance over her.

Phoebe shut her mouth.

The two of them left the hospital, one walking after the other, and went to the entrance.

Phoebe saw Jace Lennox get into his car and was about to say goodbye, but his simple command, "Get in," made her climb into the car as if possessed. She sat down beside him, bolt upright and tense.

"Move closer!" Jace frowned. Phoebe was sitting so far over, there was enough room for two people between them.

Phoebe bit her lip. 'This man might be a lead to finding my brother. I have to take any chance I get to be near him.' With that thought, she scooted her body closer to Jace.

"Closer!"

Watching her move, Jace saw she was so afraid of him she looked like she thought he was going to eat her. His voice dropped several degrees colder.

Phoebe had been preoccupied with thoughts of her brother, so Jace's fierce tone made her jump. 'It's just moving over a little,' she thought. 'Does he really have to be so aggressive about it?'
