"Stop drawing and come home with me." Jace Lennox grabbed Phoebe Faulkner's hand.
"What are you doing? Let go!" Phoebe shoved Jace, trying to wrench her hand free. "Stay out of my business! Let me go!"
"Stay out of my business?!" Jace forcefully pushed her back against the desk, bracing his arms on the surface on either side of her and trapping her between his body and the table. "What did you say? Say it again!"
"I said..."
Seeing the look in Jace's eyes and the expression on his face, Phoebe lost her nerve. She swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue and turned her head away, unwilling to look at him.
"Stop being difficult and come home with me." Seeing her like this, Jace softened his tone.
"I'm not being difficult!"
At his words, Phoebe whipped her head around and glared at him.
"You're not? Then what is this? Hmm?" Jace raised a hand and hooked her chin, closing the distance between them. "Staying late at the office on purpose instead of coming home?"
