Evelyn Grant smiled. "What is there to care about? That you don't have a stable job? Or that you have a terrible reputation in the industry?"
For a moment, Maya Scott's expression cracked.
She bit down hard, her words spilling out in a reckless torrent. "Oh, you're so incredible, climbing the ladder so fast. You must have relied on that pretty face of yours, dating popular actors for resources, right? Did Leo Lawrence know about your sordid past and refuse to be with you because of it?"
"I may be down on my luck now, but at least every penny I've earned is clean."
She had completely lost her composure, her face twisted and hideous. She despised Evelyn Grant. This was the culmination of years of jealousy, of watching Evelyn climb higher and higher while she could only look up from the shadows. That jealousy now burned inside her like a raging fire.
