Evelyn Grant answered meekly, "My brother, his girlfriend, and Mr. River."
Preston Keaton's brow furrowed slightly.
'Why is that River Walsh everywhere?'
His mood was foul, so much so that even Wyatt Walsh, who was driving, felt a chill creep up the back of his neck. He discreetly glanced into the rearview mirror.
His boss's expression was cold, radiating an alarming hostility.
But the message he sent betrayed none of this. 'First, I have to coax her over. The rest can be dealt with once she's here.'
"Okay. Do you need me to come get you?"
Evelyn Grant, oblivious, composed herself and stole a glance at Dylan Grant. "That's okay, I can get there on my own."
She had been quiet, head down at her phone, so while Dylan Grant was talking to River Walsh, his attention was divided. He caught her strange expression, and his fingers tapped soundlessly on the table, a thoughtful look deep in his eyes.
'Something feels very off.'
