Her eyes visibly brightened.

June Jacobs had originally intended to treat them to dinner, but River Walsh ended up paying. He glanced down at his phone; more than an hour had passed, yet surprisingly, no one had called to rush him.
'They're pretty perceptive.'
"Should I drive you home?"
Evelyn Grant shook her head, car keys in hand. "No need, Mr. River. I drove."
River Walsh nodded. His handsome face, under the hazy lights, was accompanied by a soft voice. "Drive safe, then. Text me when you get home."
He added carefully, "I'll be in Kryllos for a while, so call me if you need anything."
River Walsh walked them to the parking lot. He stood a short distance away, his back to the lights which outlined his tall, slender frame, giving him a remarkably suave air.
