She hadn't turned on her old phone since she left.
She had saved the numbers of her closest friends and family in her new phone. It wasn't until she heard that things had been quiet back in Veridia that she finally turned her old phone back on.
Other than messages from friends and family, there was nothing else.
She glanced over them briefly and suddenly spotted a message from River Walsh sent two days ago.
"I'm in Corvin for a conference. If you have time, could we meet? Evelyn."
Evelyn Grant paused for a moment, then tapped the screen. "I'm in Corwich. That's a long way from Corvin."
She had just sent the message and was about to type that it wasn't a good time, but before she could finish, a reply came from River Walsh.
"It's only a three-hour drive. I know you love hot pot, so I brought some hot pot base from home. I can bring it to you. It'd be a shame to take it all the way back."
River Walsh's hands curled into fists, his nervousness showing.
