Consumed by emotion, she took two furious steps toward Evelyn Grant before suddenly remembering her place.
She was wealthy, high-status, a force to be reckoned with in the Aura District. Why should she get angry over someone who would never even cross paths with her social circle?
'It wasn't worth it. This woman wasn't worthy.'
Evelyn Grant raised an eyebrow, watching unhurriedly as the woman approached, the disdain on her face expertly concealed.
"That's a beautiful ring, Miss Grant."
Evelyn Grant nodded. "Thank you," she said coolly. "Have we met before?"
"Once, but Miss Grant likely wouldn't remember," Annelise Rhodes said, toying with her bracelet in a deceptively casual tone. "In Veridia, I was shopping with Mrs. Keaton when we happened to run into you."
She smiled. "I often go to Clearwater Bay for tea. Miss Grant doesn't go there much, so aside from that one time at the mall, we've never run into each other privately."
'Anyone could see what she was flaunting.'
