Sheng Bai was grinning from ear to ear, just about to head downstairs, when he was spotted by his father coming the other way. It was already dark, so seeing his son still at home was a bit of a novelty.
"And where are you off to fool around this time?"
He saw Sheng Bai was wearing a black hiking backpack and carrying a bunch of bulging bags in his hand; it didn't look like he was heading out for drinks.
Sheng Bai, feeling a little awkward in front of his old man, shuffled his feet.
"Um… if I said I was going hiking, would you believe me?"
'I've heard of night cycling, but are people going night hiking now, too?'
Not sure what came to his mind, Father Sheng's expression turned to one of disgust. He said sternly, "Don't go getting into any 'thrilling' activities out there. I don't want to get a distress call from you late at night. And if I see your big, pale ass on the internet, I'm kicking you out of the family."
