Years ago, a strong lion used to live in a cave in the Himalayas.
One day he was returning to his cave after hunting and eating a buffalo.
Then on the way he met a ferocious jackal who lay down and paid obeisance to him. When the lion asked him the reason for doing so, he said, "Sir, I want to become your servant. Please take me under your shelter.
I will serve you and earn my living from the prey left by you."
The lion agreed to his request and took him under his protection in a friendly manner. Within a few days, the jackal became very fat after eating the prey left by the lion.
Seeing the bravery of the lion every day, he also considered himself to be the image of the lion.
One day he said to the lion, "Hey lion! Now I have also become as powerful as you. Today I will hunt an elephant and eat it and leave the remaining meat for you."
Since the lion considered the jackal friendly, he did not mind his words and stopped him from doing so.
Caught in the web of illusion, he rejected the advice of the arrogant jackal lion and stood on the top of the mountain.
From there he looked around and saw a small group of elephants under the mountain. Then, making jackal noises three times like a lion, he jumped on a big elephant. But instead of falling on the elephant's head, it landed at its feet. And the elephant moved forward with its cheerful gait, placing its front leg above his head. Within a moment, the jackal's head was shattered and his life was in vain. Watching all the actions of the jackal from the top of the mountain, the lion then said this story - "Such are the actions of those who are foolish and proud."
