The First Rift happened when every major city in the world were covered with fog so thick that no light could penetrate through. To this day, no one can find the exact cause but there is one quote that perfectly explain what followed once the fog finally did clear up - 'they came from the other side'.
Creatures that were once thought to only be real in fairy tales and fiction appeared through multiple rifts and simultaneously started destroying everything and anyone on their path. Humans soon retaliated but quickly fell into despair and hopelessness when modern weaponry was not able to win against the monstrous strength of those creatures.
That is until a mechanical voice proclaimed to be the World's system announced its presence to every human on Earth. Despite the fear and confusion, everyone who was alive at the time listened to every word as if they were entranced.
