Chapter 7: The Awakening Code
Silence had settled again…
But this silence was different.
Heavier.
More… aware.
The place where the entity had disappeared still lingered with a strange feeling—like reality itself had been slightly damaged.
Asad stood still.
"…It reacted to me."
Leon looked at him, confused.
"…What are you talking about?"
Asad didn't answer immediately.
Instead—
He slowly closed his eyes.
And focused.
"…System…"
Nothing happened.
"…System."
Still nothing.
Leon frowned.
"…What are you doing?"
Asad opened his eyes.
"…Testing something."
He looked at his hand.
"…This world… has rules."
"…But not all rules are visible."
Leon stepped closer.
"…Explain."
Asad turned toward him.
"…That thing we just saw…"
"…it called me a 'target'."
Leon nodded slowly.
"…Yeah."
Asad's eyes narrowed.
"…Which means…"
"…there is something monitoring us."
A pause.
Leon tightened his grip.
"…So we are being watched?"
Asad smirked slightly.
"…No."
He shook his head.
"…We are being evaluated."
Leon didn't understand.
"…By who?"
Asad looked up at the sky.
"…Something higher than this world."
A light breeze passed.
Suddenly—
A faint voice echoed.
Not from outside.
But inside Asad's mind.
"…Awakening condition met…"
Asad's eyes widened slightly.
"…There it is."
Leon immediately reacted.
"…What did you say?"
Asad raised his hand slightly.
"…Something just activated."
The air around him changed.
A faint purple glow appeared beneath his feet.
Leon stepped back instinctively.
"…What is that?!"
Asad looked down.
"…A system."
"…Or maybe…"
A small pause.
"…a part of my novel that I never finished."
The glow intensified.
"…Link established…"
"…User detected…"
"…Author permissions initializing…"
Asad's expression changed.
"…So it does recognize me."
Leon looked at him, confused but alert.
"…Recognize what?"
Asad smiled faintly.
"…That I'm not supposed to be here."
The glow suddenly expanded—
And for a moment—
A transparent screen appeared in front of Asad.
Leon froze.
"…What… is that…?"
Asad stared at the screen.
His eyes moved as if reading something invisible.
"…Interesting…"
"…So this is how it works."
Leon stepped closer.
"…Asad… what are you seeing?"
Asad didn't look at him.
"…Information."
He paused.
"…About this world."
Another pause.
Then—
His expression changed.
"…And about you."
Leon's eyes widened.
"…Me?"
Asad finally looked at him.
"…Leon…"
"…you are not just a Hero."
Leon's grip tightened.
"…What do you mean?"
Asad's eyes sharpened.
"…Your existence… is being altered."
Silence.
Leon froze.
"…Altered…?"
Asad nodded slowly.
"…Someone is rewriting your role."
The screen flickered.
"…WARNING…"
"…Timeline instability detected…"
Asad frowned.
"…So it's already happening."
Leon looked shaken.
"…My… role?"
Asad closed the screen with a thought.
The glow faded slightly.
"…Yes."
He looked at Leon seriously.
"…Which means…"
"…this story is no longer the one I wrote."
Leon stayed silent.
Processing.
Then—
"…Then what is this story now?"
Asad smirked.
A dangerous smile.
"…Our story."
Wind picked up.
The sky darkened slightly.
Somewhere…
Something else was watching.
And this time—
It was not silent.
