Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Teaming Up to Set Out

Feng Moxi's spirit body entered the space. The air here smelled wonderful, seemingly rich with elemental power. She immediately sat cross-legged and began her Cultivation, integrating the Refining God Technique as her thoughts spun ceaselessly within the space.

This method of Cultivation wasn't slow at all.

After she completed a Grand Circulation, her Inner Strength settled in her Dantian. She leaped to her feet and, using her will, made the broken sword on the table dance in her hand.

The abundant Powerful Energy in her Dantian made the broken sword move like a swimming dragon in her hand. Mimicking a spell, she performed a hand seal, and a dark golden light immediately condensed on her fingertips. At the same time, she felt some of the Powerful Energy within her body deplete.

Her mind moved with her will. With a focused gesture of her finger, a sharp strand of Sword Qi shot straight toward an empty patch of ground, instantly carving a gash in the earth.

Dirt flew up on all sides.

She continued this way, executing over a dozen moves condensed from her Sword technique, each one with her full strength. When she gradually felt the Powerful Energy in her Dantian weaken and finally disappear, she sat down cross-legged to resume her Cultivation.

She repeated this cycle.

Before she knew it, when Feng Moxi opened her eyes again, the sky outside was already bright, and Luo Yunxi was no longer by her side.

Feng Moxi focused her spiritual power and tried to probe outside with her Divine Sense. The scene outside became crystal clear, as if she herself had walked out.

But when her consciousness tried to extend below the stairwell, everything went black.

She knew this was because her Cultivation was still shallow, but she was already very satisfied.

When Feng Moxi went downstairs, the main hall was surprisingly lively. Luo Yunxi was sitting at the large table eating with Chaoyang's group, though Feng Moxi didn't know when they had joined up.

On the table was a large, steaming basin of white rice and a pot of cabbage and potatoes stewed with canned meat. The moment she saw the food, she couldn't tear her eyes away, and her stomach let out an embarrassing RUMBLE.

Chaoyang happened to look up just then and gave Feng Moxi a mischievous smile. "Morning!"

Feng Moxi glanced through the hall window at the sky over the small courtyard. 'I guess it is still early. It's not dark yet.'

Seeing Feng Moxi come down, Luo Yunxi couldn't help but laugh. She quickly stood up, pulled her into a seat, and unceremoniously served her a heaping bowl of rice topped with a thick layer of vegetables and meat.

"Hurry and eat. You must be starving."

A punchable voice chimed in, "Yeah, eat up. Our Xiao Lizi is a pretty good cook." As soon as Chaoyang finished speaking, a young man in black with a sunny disposition straightened his back behind him.

Although the young man's expression was calm, he had a warm, sunny air about him that wasn't cold at all. He nodded at her.

Feng Moxi was secretly surprised. 'When did they become so polite?'

"Thank you!"

For someone who valued food as much as life itself, she simply couldn't refuse a good meal.

Feng Moxi asked deliberately, "Living well, are we? Is there food in the kitchen?" If she remembered correctly, she had taken all the food that was here before.

Unless they had someone with a Space Ability, which Wan Yong's group clearly didn't. As she finished speaking, her gaze shifted to Xiao Lizi.

Chaoyang jumped in. "These bastards are useless in a fight, but they're great at looting. The back kitchen was stocked with a whole room full of supplies. Hahaha, all ours now."

'A whole room? Could the group that came after us have brought it?'

A glint flashed in Feng Moxi's eyes. In a few days, a lot of people would be stationed here. Rather than let someone else have it, she might as well find a chance to take it all for herself.

After taking a bite of the hot meal she hadn't had in so long, Feng Moxi found that it was just as delicious as Chaoyang had claimed. As the first mouthful went down, her eyes instinctively narrowed in pleasure. The sensation of the food spreading through her was pure bliss.

Chaoyang stared, dumbfounded. He had assumed that a girl like her wouldn't have lacked for food or drink, either before or after the Apocalypse.

She looked like she had been starving for a long time, yet she wasn't wolfing her food down. He really couldn't figure her out.

Feng Moxi chewed each mouthful slowly before taking another bite. She savored every single morsel before continuing.

Watching her made Chaoyang's own food seem more delicious.

Although the two girls ate elegantly, it wasn't long before the large basin of rice and the pot of stew were completely wiped out.

After they finished eating, Luo Yunxi said sheepishly, "Um, I'll wash the dishes. I have a Water Ability."

Washing dishes was a major issue for Xiao Lizi and the others. Whenever they faced this problem, they would just throw the bowls away and use new ones. The other main reason was the lack of water.

"That's perfect," Chaoyang said with a laugh. "We six big guys are the most useless bunch. Not a single Water Ability among us."

Feng Moxi glanced toward a corner of the main hall and saw Wan Yong and his people huddled together in a smaller adjoining room, eating noodles.

Catching her gaze, He Ping offered a faint smile.

Meanwhile, the remaining three young women—oh, no, four—were still squatting in a corner of the hall, looking at them with expectant eyes.

The previous mess in the hall had also been cleaned up.

「The next morning.」

Everyone got into the cars. Sima Yue and Gong Chaoyang shamelessly piled into Feng Moxi's vehicle.

Feng Moxi had never met such shameless people. They said and did whatever they pleased.

Chaoyang said enthusiastically, "What a coincidence! You guys are heading out too?"

"There's a car right next to this one."

"But that would be a waste of gas."

Their four subordinates had taken the other Ford Kuga.

Wan Yong's entire team, including the woman and the young boy, got into their own car. He clearly wasn't comfortable leaving his family in this uncertain place.

Upon hearing they were going out to clear monsters, the young women paled in terror and huddled together in the corner of the hall, deciding to leave their fate to chance or to be rescued by someone else.

The rest of the group acted as if they didn't see them, their expressions all indifferent.

The cars drove on, and soon they reached the three-way intersection between Binhai and White Poplar Town.

After yesterday's escape, a number of monsters were now sparsely wandering the road.

To save time, Feng Moxi didn't bother with them and drove straight past. As they neared the building where they had rested yesterday, the entire road was suddenly teeming with a dense horde of monsters.

The mottled bridge, in particular, was completely packed with them.

Hearing the noise, they all began to shamble over, letting out guttural roars.

They bared their fangs and brandished their claws, ready to pounce, all while shrieking madly.

Chaoyang's four subordinates grabbed their Tang Blades and began to clear them out.

Feng Moxi frowned. There were so many monsters on this road. Besides the ones Chaoyang's group had led over that night, many must have also emerged from the town's streets.

It would take some time to clear them all. She hoped no one would come and cause trouble today.

The stoic Sima Yue's cold gaze sharpened. A Tang Blade materialized in his hand, and he got out of the car and headed straight for the monsters.

Seeing this, a glint appeared in Feng Moxi's eyes. 'So their group really does have storage spaces—and more than one. They're not to be underestimated.'
