"The parking garage seems fine."
Sierra said, looking toward the supermarket.
As she moved, the headlamp she wore cast its beam on the supermarket entrance.
The dust-covered plastic curtain strips shimmered dimly in the light.
The curtain strips blocked the beam, making it impossible to see what lay beyond them.
The pitch-black entrance was like a terrifying Aberrant Beast that had opened its gaping maw, silently waiting for them to walk right into its trap.
Sierra frowned. "I have a feeling something's not right in there..."
Before she could finish, a rustling, skittering sound came from inside.
It was coming from inside the supermarket.
It sounded like countless feet, scrambling at high speed.
"Something's coming out! Fall back!"
Jayce grabbed Sierra and ran for the escalator.
Neither of them dared to look back as they scrambled frantically up the escalator.
Only when they reached the first floor did Sierra finally risk a look back.
