Cole immediately set down his plate. "I'll go with you."
"No need. I want to practice using my powers on my own."
Without a backward glance, she pulled open the door and walked out.
The door shut with a THUD, leaving Cole inside.
He drew in a sharp breath, his gaze darkening as he stared at the closed door.
Ultimately, he was too worried to stay put. He opened the door, activated his powers, and began following her, keeping a safe distance.
Cole had worn her out the night before last, leaving her limbs feeling weak. But after a night of recovery, she now felt like she could leap across rooftops.
Spotting a cluster of four or five zombies ahead, she charged right in.
