Josie Quinn took a couple of deep breaths, trying to calm herself down.
"Okay, go on."
Lucas Lockwood reached out, brushing a stray strand of hair from her cheek. He asked softly, "Do you hate me?"
'She liked everything about him.'
'And that was exactly why she didn't want to be with him. She was afraid she'd fall for him.'
"I hate you."
Josie turned her head away and lied.
A second later, Lucas Lockwood chuckled softly, the pad of his finger touching her full lips. "You really hate me?"
"Mhm," Josie said, collecting herself. "Are you going to ask why I'd kiss you if I hate you?"
Lucas Lockwood's expression shifted.
Josie's eyebrow twitched, a bewitching smile spreading across her face. "Because I'm not a good woman to begin with. I may not like you, but this shell of yours isn't half bad."
The words had barely left her mouth when Lucas Lockwood's lips came crashing down on hers again, sealing them shut.
