Jude Sheffield was stunned. A flicker of hesitation crossed his usually emotionless eyes. "So... you're willing?"
Jude Sheffield's words made Lucas Lockwood's gaze lock onto Josie Quinn.
Josie didn't look at him, but she slowly nodded at Jude Sheffield. "Yes. It's my own choice."
As she said this, she failed to notice the smile that spread across the man's face.
Just then, Josie suddenly heard something. She immediately stopped talking and tilted her head to listen.
Lucas Lockwood had clearly heard it as well. He was the first one to walk out of the restaurant.
The cold morning wind hit them, carrying the stench of rot. Then, a familiar roar echoed from nearby.
"Zombies!" Jude Sheffield's voice cracked. "They're inside!"
In moments, the first zombie appeared at the entrance to the shelter's complex passageways. It was followed by a second, then a third. The zombies surged forward like a black tide.
