"A storm is coming!"
Watching it all unfold from her home, Stella Sterling silently lowered her binoculars. She turned and went back into the living room. After a moment's thought, she walked to the door and activated the motion-sensor alarm she'd installed.
From now on, if anyone tampered with her door or tried to force their way in, an alarm would immediately sound inside. That way, she wouldn't have to worry about sleeping so soundly that she wouldn't know if someone broke in.
She had installed the device a while ago, but the situation hadn't been nearly this dire. Thinking it unnecessary, she'd left it off.
'But from now on, I'm afraid there will be no more peace.'
She checked the time. It was only one in the afternoon. She went back to bed for a nap.
Meanwhile, the residential complex had been turned completely upside down.
