Elara's POV.
I stared at Mrs. Valerie's office. Her words were still echoing in my ears, but I found it very hard to believe what she was saying to me. She was telling me that my body was acting up just because I missed Kael and felt guilty for what I did to him. It sounded too simple. It felt like an excuse.
"I find that hard to believe, Mrs. Valerie," I said, shaking my head slowly. "I can admit that I feel guilty. I know that I made mistakes, and I know that I broke his trust. But how can guilt make me hear actual voices? How can missing someone make my body mess me up like this? It does not make any sense."
I leaned forward, looking straight into her eyes to challenge her statement.
"If you are so sure that this is just guilt and stress, then prove it to me," I challenged her directly. "Prove to me that my body is doing this just because of my feelings, because right now, it feels like something much worse is happening to my mind."
