Chapter 1: Benefits of Being Reborn
I awoke in a place unfamiliar to me.
My eyes slowly studied the room as I took note of the rickety bed I was lying in. I instantly knew it wasn't mine.
'Shit… okay, where am I?'
Suddenly, I noticed a woman sitting just outside my line of sight shoot out of her chair.
"Kaza! Thank God you're alright!"
Before I could react, she swept my child-sized body into her arms.
My body jolted at the sight of her.
Memories that weren't my own suddenly seared into my brain.
"AAAGHH!"
The woman immediately dropped me, putting both hands over her mouth.
"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!"
I lay there on the bed I had fallen onto, doing nothing but absorbing the information of the soul that had previously lived in this body.
I stayed there for several hours as the woman frantically did everything she could to make me comfortable.
And as I slowly came to terms with everything, I finally realized where I was…
And what had happened.
'So this place is an orphanage, and this woman is a caretaker.'
'And the previous owner of this 13 year old body is technically dead.'
'Apparently, the boy was playing in the forest when he ran into a curse that essentially turned him into a vegetable.'
I turned to look at the jittery woman.
Her name was Yuma.
"I'm fine, Yuma. I just need some time to myself."
She gave me a shaky frown, looking like she was about to cry.
"Bu-but you've been unconscious for three whole days! All the other kids are worried about you! I need to get you checked by a doctor. Maybe see a psychiatrist or something. When I brought you to a doctor yesterday, they weren't even sure you'd wake up. I—"
'Holy yap session.'
I grimaced and raised my hand to stop her.
As I did, I took note of the caramel skin tone of my hand.
"I said I'm fine. I just really need some time alone."
The cute woman in front of me deflated.
"O-oh… okay."
She lowered her head slightly.
"I'll let the other kids know you're okay. Take all the time you need. I'll go make you some breakfast. Please come down to eat soon."
She gave me a small smile.
"I'm happy you're feeling better."
She walked away, clearly sad.
But I needed some time to think.
'Okay. Lock in.'
'I'm in Jujutsu Kaisen.'
'I have memories, but not really of who I was.'
'I can't remember who my family was or who my friends were, but I know who I sort of am as a person, I guess.'
'And I remember things unrelated to my personal life, so that's a plus.'
I took a deep breath.
Then I focused on the dark feeling in my gut.

I paused.

A grin slowly spread across my face.

It was hard to tell exactly what kind of system this was.
'Seems like a summoning-type system rather than one of those level-up-until-you're-basically-a-god systems.'

I shrugged.
'But I got a system, so at least I wasn't hoed.'
I glanced toward the door.
"Hmm…"
'Before I go trying to hunt curses, I should at least experiment and try to get a handle on my cursed technique.'

I made my way down the stairs with their the creeks letting others know I was coming down and the first face I saw was Yuma's smiling at me I saw some other kids smiling at me as well
A small girl ran at me and jumped into my arms I remembered her name was Yui she was gripping into my shirt crying
Sniffle "Kaza why'd you sleep so long you scared me!"
I was annoyed but another part of me that remembered this girl cared about her so I decided to not be a jerk to a little girl that was worried for me
'damn it I just wanna eat then find out what my powers are and if I get some Mha bullshit like that one pudding guy I'm crashing out'
"Uh I was just suuper tired and I might get sleepy again if I don't eat so"
She perked up "then we gotta feed you fast"
Grabbing my hand she dragged me to the table and emptied her bowl into mine and tried to force a spoon in my mouth but I stopped her hand and grabbed my spoon
I quirked an eyebrow at her "I can eat myself but thanks"
-10 minutes later-
After I finished eating with Yui trying to make me eat more and Yuma offering me seconds which I had to turn down multiple times I had left and after finally escaping the two who were justifiably worried about me I decided to head outside
'Finally now let's see what badass technique I got'
As I delved into my my I innately knew the name of my cursed technique "Treasure Spirits"
