Chapter 247 - Crazy Beast, Carnival Ends

Chapter 247: Crazy Beast, Carnival Ends

"Hehehe... You can't catch me, so what's the point of all that raw power?"

Zombozo cackled, his shrill laughter echoing through the night sky. Suspended in mid-air, the clown glanced over his shoulder, expecting to see the glowing alien trailing behind him. Instead, he saw nothing but empty clouds. A smug grin stretched across his painted face.

"Excuse me. Construction ahead. Please take a detour."

The deadpan voice echoed from directly in front of him. Zombozo blinked. A voice? Up here? He was three hundred feet in the air! The clown whipped his head forward, only to find his entire field of vision swallowed by a massive, crackling blue tentacle.

Smack.

A heavy, wet slap caught Zombozo square in the jaw, sending him spiraling sideways through the air like a discarded ragdoll.

"Oh, a home run."

AmpFibian hovered in the sky, staring at his glowing blue appendage with mild surprise. He hadn't expected to launch the clown quite that far. After all, this form wasn't exactly built for brute strength. Still, he had to admit, slapping Zombozo felt incredibly satisfying. The guy possessed the bouncy elasticity of a cheap balloon.

Glancing at the distant, tumbling clown, AmpFibian dissolved into a streak of pure blue electricity. He surged straight into a nearby power line. It was a good thing this little town had such a well-developed electrical grid; the cable coverage was wonderfully extensive.

A split second later, the exact same scene played out again. A blue tentacle materialized from a streetlamp's wiring, swatting the falling clown in the opposite direction.

Smack. Smack. Smack.

Zombozo was batted back and forth across the sky, a helpless ping-pong ball caught in a high-voltage rally. By the fourth brutal slap, Zombozo finally snapped. Abandoning any thought of a graceful escape, his eyes bulged with bloodshot fury. He clenched his oversized fists and hurled himself directly at the glowing blue alien hovering casually in his path.

"Ho? Feeling brave, are we? You're practically Superman."

AmpFibian's voice dripped with dry amusement as his gelatinous body flared with blinding light. Zombozo plunged straight into a turbulent sphere of crackling electricity, a full five meters in diameter.

BZZZT.

The deafening crackle of high voltage lit up the night. A completely charred, smoking Zombozo plummeted from the sky. The hundred-meter drop ended with a heavy thud, leaving a perfectly clown-shaped crater in the dirt. Deep inside the pit, Zombozo weakly twitched his right hand.

"This is... so annoying..." he groaned, coughing up a puff of black smoke before passing out.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, the earth trembled.

Even in his mutated, monstrous state, Dika was absolutely no match for the sheer, overwhelming physical might of Humungousaur. At least, not until the beast managed to absorb enough energy to level the playing field. Humungousaur had the massive creature pinned firmly against the twisted wreckage of a collapsed warehouse, his heavy claws digging into the beast's shoulders.

Watching from the sidelines, Kevin scowled, his arms shifting into dense metal hammers. "Ben Tennyson! Stop trying to hog all the spotlight!" he shouted, charging forward with the full intention of scraping the monster off the pavement himself.

"Roar!"

Pinned beneath the Vaxasaurian's immense weight, the monster Dika threw his head back, unhinging his blood-red jaws to unleash a deafening, furious bellow. A wave of putrid, eye-watering stench blasted straight into Humungousaur's face. The giant alien gagged, instinctively turning his head away.

"Ugh! What in the world... did you eat?!"

Seizing the momentary lapse in concentration, Dika planted his massive feet and violently bucked, throwing the towering alien off his chest. Humungousaur hit the dirt but quickly scrambled back up, fully expecting the monster to press the attack. Instead, Dika didn't even spare him a second glance. The beast spun on his heels and bolted in the opposite direction, his heavy footsteps shaking the ground.

Before Humungousaur could even process the sudden retreat, Kevin sprinted past him. "Hey! Don't run! Get back here and fight me!"

Humungousaur shot Kevin a deeply weirded-out look. Hadn't Kevin said the exact same thing to him during one of their earlier brawls? Shaking his massive head to clear the distracting thought, Humungousaur planted his hands on the ground, preparing to give chase.

"Wait! Be careful!"

Opu's frantic voice echoed from the sidelines. Humungousaur paused, looking down to see the small alien running toward them, waving his arms wildly in the air. "After we consume the meat, we don't just turn into monsters! We also produce... other things besides gold!"

"Opu, please, for once in your life, just speak clearly," Gwen sighed, floating down from the sky on a platform of pink mana. She had initially assumed Ben could handle the mutated Dika without breaking a sweat, but a creeping sense of dread was beginning to settle in her stomach.

"Uranium-1412!" Opu clarified, his voice trembling. "We produce this highly unstable substance after our transformation!"

Humungousaur blinked his small, reptilian eyes, thoroughly confused. "What the heck is that?"

Gwen's expression darkened, her brow furrowing. "It's a highly radioactive isotope. Extremely volatile and incredibly prone to detonation upon impact."

Realization dawned on Humungousaur's scaly face. "So that means..."

BOOM!

A massive explosion rocked the far end of the street. Everyone whipped their heads around just in time to see Kevin rocketing high into the night sky, trailing a plume of thick black smoke. He plummeted back down, landing squarely in another steaming pile of explosive excrement.

BOOM!

"Alright. Yeah. We definitely need to watch our step," Humungousaur muttered. His massive frame began to shrink down to his standard size, a mischievous, highly amused grin spreading across his face. "But hey, look on the bright side. Kevin's already cleared a safe path for us."

Watching her cousin trot carefully around the blast craters, Gwen let out a long, exhausted sigh and rubbed her temples. She turned her attention back to Opu. "Is there anything else you forgot to mention?"

Opu tapped his chin, his eyes widening as a crucial detail finally surfaced. "Yes! We absolutely cannot let him absorb any more Mana! If he feeds on raw energy, his strength will multiply exponentially!"

"Wait a minute," Gwen gasped, her eyes snapping toward the horizon. "I remember the direction he just ran in... That path leads straight to..." She launched herself high into the sky, her eyes locking onto the lumbering silhouette of the giant monster in the distance. Her heart skipped a beat. "The power station!"

Driven by a sudden, terrifying premonition, Gwen pushed her powers to the absolute limit. She transformed into a blinding streak of pinkish-purple light, tearing through the night sky and arriving at the power station just seconds ahead of the rampaging beast.

Dika was mere steps away from the main generators. Drooling with anticipation, the monster lunged forward, eager to gorge himself on the crackling energy. Instead, he slammed face-first into a massive, unyielding wall of solid purple mana.

Before Dika's sluggish, mutated brain could even process the invisible barrier, Gwen hovered high above him, her eyes glowing with raw power. She swept her arms in a wide arc, conjuring dozens of thick, glowing energy chains from the ether. The magical constructs lashed out like vipers, wrapping tightly around the monster's thick limbs and torso.

"Don't touch things that don't belong to you," Gwen warned, her voice echoing with authority.

She poured more mana into the spell, causing the chains to flare with a blinding, violet brilliance. Dika thrashed wildly, his massive claws scraping against the asphalt as he desperately tried to drag himself toward the humming generators. Despite his immense strength, the magical tethers slowly dragged him backward, inch by agonizing inch.

"Roar! ROAR!"

Dika's eyes burned a furious, glowing red. With a sickening crack, the sheer force of his struggling snapped one of the thick chains binding his right arm. But Gwen didn't even flinch. With a flick of her wrist, three more chains materialized, instantly wrapping around the freed limb and pulling it taut.

The tense stalemate held for several agonizing seconds, right up until a massive shadow blotted out the moon.

Humungousaur came crashing down from the sky, having used his powerful legs to vault across the town. In mid-air, his body rapidly expanded, swelling to his maximum twenty-meter height. With an devastating crash, the colossal Vaxasaurian slammed feet-first into Dika's back, driving the monster face-first into the cracked pavement.

This time, Gwen didn't hold back. Capitalizing on Humungousaur's overwhelming physical suppression, she wove layer after layer of glowing energy chains around the beast, tightly binding Dika from head to toe until he resembled a massive, glowing purple cocoon.

A brilliant flash of emerald light illuminated the street, and the towering dinosaur vanished, leaving Ben standing over the squirming, tightly bound giant. He scratched the back of his head, looking completely out of his depth. "So... what exactly are we supposed to do with this guy?"

"We wait until Klein gets back," Gwen said, floating gracefully down to the asphalt and landing lightly beside her cousin.

"Don't sweat it." Kevin limped over, his clothes singed and covered in soot, carrying Opu under one arm. The small alien looked down at the struggling, cocooned monster with a deep sense of sadness. "As long as he isn't fed any more meat, his body will naturally burn through the mutation. He will slowly transform back to normal on his own."

"Speaking of which, where is the boss?" Kevin asked, wincing as he stretched his bruised shoulders. He scanned the ruined street, finding no trace of Klein anywhere.

"Right above you, Kevin."

A calm, distinctly dry voice echoed from the sky. AmpFibian slowly descended from the clouds, casually dangling a completely charred, twitching Zombozo from one of his glowing tentacles.

A quiet flash of blue light washed over the alien, and Klein stood in his place. He didn't even spare the unconscious clown a second glance, casually tossing Zombozo onto the cracked pavement like a sack of garbage. He dusted off his hands and looked at the group.

"Call the Plumbers. We're done here."
