Chapter 3 - “The Beginning That Changed Everything”

She thought this was a new beginning… but Ambala had already started testing her—pushing her to become stronger, bolder, and someone she had never imagined before.

Moving away from a place after so many years was not easy. It felt like leaving behind a part of herself—friends, memories, laughter… everything stayed there, frozen in time. Ahead of her was a new city, new faces, and a life she didn't understand yet.

She stepped into a new school, carrying emotions she couldn't express. Some days were heavier than others. Being in a new environment for the first time made her feel lost, but slowly, within a month or two, she began to adjust.

But maybe… she was already stronger than she thought.

Because even before Ambala, life had shown her something she could never forget.

During her father's posting in Jammu & Kashmir, she often visited during vacations. It was a sensitive area, surrounded by strict security and constant alertness. One day, while they were out in a nearby area, something happened that she had never imagined—there was a sudden terrorist attack.

For the first time in her life, she saw fear, chaos… and even blood.

Her heart raced, her mind froze, but somehow the army managed the situation. Everyone was safe in the end, but that moment stayed with her. It was no longer just a story she had heard—it became a reality she had witnessed.

Even traveling was not simple. To leave the area, they had to reach Jammu station before 6 AM in army convoy vehicles, because during the day, the risk of attack was higher. Life there was unpredictable… and that experience changed something deep inside her.

That incident didn't just scare her—it made her stronger.

Maybe that was the reason she didn't break easily later.

Back in Ambala, she slowly started blending into her new life. But she was never like the others. While many girls spent their PT periods talking, she chose to run, play, and compete with boys. She didn't care about tanning, appearance, or what others thought—she only cared about the joy of playing and the freedom she felt.

And then came the moment she had once dreamed of.

In Class 8, she got to know that she could apply for NCC. That dream, which once felt distant, was now standing right in front of her. But the path wasn't easy. Hundreds of students applied—everyone wanted that one opportunity.

The selection process felt like a real competition. There were officers, doctors, and strict physical tests. Among 200+ students, she stood there, determined.

The race began—two rounds of 400 meters.

And something unexpected happened.

She didn't just complete it… she finished first.

Faster than most. Stronger than many.

All those years of playing, running, and being different had finally paid off. She was selected as a cadet for the Air Force wing.

For the first time, she felt it—the pride, the excitement, the dream turning into reality.

But life.... still had its own plans.

Just when everything seemed to be falling into place, something unexpected was about to change the world itself…

And her journey was about to take a turn no one had ever imagined.
