Heo Kyi-on stared blankly at the system notification infront of his eyes. A proof of Yi-jun's death. Just like that, the world is back to peace again, no more threat and fear all because of a single person's end. He can hear a cheer and joyful mumble in the distant but he didn't know what to make of it. He doesn't know what kind of expression he's making either — he feels nothing but emptiness.
Heo Kyi-on's grip on the lifeless body in his arms tightened as he embraced it quietly.
What did I became a hunter for if I cant even save the one I love?
Heo Kyi-on wanted nothing more but to spite the world that he vowed to protect but ended up betraying him.
He pulled out the sword that had pierced Yi-jun's chest and pointed it toward himself. To him, there's no such thing as living in a world without Yi-jun.
[Apleireon's Venom]
Heo Kyi-on used the same skill that were used to kill Yi-jun using the sword, even more so than the one that had been used on the other hunter.
'That guy had always hated being in pain, yet my own skill were one of the reason his life ended just like that'
His hands shook as he watches the sword being spread with the poison, once he was satisfied — he deactivated the skill. He can't even imagine how much agony Yi-jun went through from the poison yet the other man found a way to keep talking and comfort him. He felt responsible for the death of Yi-jun and he believes it's only right to die the same way.
"Yi-jun. I'm sorry I can't keep my word."
"Ugh."
Blood splattered to the ground as the same sword that ended the other hunter's life pierced Heo Kyi-on, his breathe hitched as he fell to the ground.
Thud.
Heo Kyi-on's body shivered as he inhales, the pain is more excruciating than he thought — not that he hadn't already expected it, having to deal with the effects and what the poison does to people everytime he uses it. His entire body feels like it's burning and even breathing has started to hurt, yet he doesn't feel any fear or regret.
His blurry eyes met the other man's body. Countless thoughts and flashbacks rushed to his head, and he was able to confirm that people really do see their life flash before their eyes the moment they're at their death's door, a bitter laugh escaped his mouth.
All the memory he could see is filled with Yi-jun and the time he spent with the guild members.
'I wonder if Yi-jun saw the same thing as me...?'
Countless regret keeps piling up inside his mind, things that he should've done for Yi-jun and how he could've spoiled him more.
Just as before he closes his eyes, a system message popped up before his eyes.
'Another chance…? In what? Am I hallucinating now?'
It sent the message again, almost as if it heard his thoughts, Heo Kyi-on's vision had started to darken and before he knew it — his hand had started to move using its very last strength and clicked the 'Y' button on the system message with his finger.
'Last chance, huh? Wouldn't hurt to cling onto something…even if it's false hope'
Thud.
"on"
"…Leader"
"…Kyi-on"
"Guild leader Heo Kyi-on!!"
A loud voice startled Heo Kyi-on from his silence. When he got to his senses, he wasn't in the ground nor is his body injured at all — instead he is in a meeting room.
'What?'
"Guild Leader, I apologize for shouting at you but you weren't paying any attention to the meeting...Could it be we made a mistake? If so-"
Heo Kyi-on, still a bit disoriented from what is happening, quietly exhaled and rubbed his temple and tried to clear his mind. The guild members in the room tensed up.
"Ha...ah, no. You did well on the presentation."
Despite his confusion, Heo Kyi-on tried to remain calm as he looked around and analyzed his sorroundings once again, surely this time he knows he's not dreaming or hallucinating. The guild members really are infront of his eyes and staring at him with a mix of fear and worry.
Heo Kyi-on reassured them everything is fine and the meeting continued after that, but all he could focus on is the current situation. Heo Kyi-on is more than sure that he died after ending his own life but that is clearly not what's happening at the moment.
The guild members are focused on the presentation being presented by Geon Il-won, his secretary. He's younger than what he originally remembers him for but it's certainly him. The same goes for the guild members and the room layout that he remembers to have been renovated after the guild members petitioned to have it changed for being too out-dated for their liking.
Heo Kyi-on checked his pocket and looked for his phone, when he found it, he opened it and clicked the camera icon and switched it to 'selfie' mode for confirmation.
Heo Kyi-on, the rank 1 in South Korea had always been at the top, so an illusion shouldn't easily work on him unless it's a high level skill that even he can't get out of, and even if it did. He would have at least sensed its presence or noticed it but he didn't, nor there were signs of anybody using such skill on him.
Heo Kyi-on could only think of three plausible reason for this situation; either someone with an S class illusion skill had been used on him, he had lost his sanity or…
'The chance that the system were talking about were turning him back the time from before all those mess happened'
