Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: A Mission for the Dark Guardian

The night felt heavier than usual.

Not because of darkness.

But because of what it carried.

A deep, suffocating weight pressed against the land where the Guardians had gathered after their battle. The air was calm, the wind soft, the sky still—but none of it brought peace.

Because now, they knew the truth.

Tamraj was not trying to destroy the world.

He was trying to control it.

And that realization changed everything.

The Weight of Truth

Agniya paced restlessly, her steps sharp against the cracked ground. Small flames flickered around her hands, reacting to her agitation.

"So let me get this straight," she said, her voice edged with frustration. "We've been fighting all this time…"

She stopped, turning toward the others.

"And he's just been setting us up?"

Varun stood nearby, arms crossed, his expression unusually serious.

"Not just setting us up," he replied.

"Guiding us."

Agniya's eyes narrowed.

"That's worse."

Vayu leaned against a broken pillar, though his usual relaxed demeanor was gone. His gaze was focused, thoughtful.

"Every fight pushed us further," he said slowly. "Made us stronger."

"More synchronized," Prithvi added, her voice calm but heavy.

"More complete."

Jyoti tightened her grip on her staff, her light faint but steady.

"Exactly what he needs."

Silence followed.

A dangerous silence.

Because for the first time, a terrifying thought surfaced among them.

"Are we helping him?" Varun asked quietly.

No one answered.

Nish's Decision

Nish stood slightly apart from the group.

As always.

But this time, it was not distance—it was focus.

His thoughts ran deeper than before, connecting pieces that had not made sense until now.

"He's not wrong."

The others turned toward him.

Agniya frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Nish didn't hesitate.

"We're getting stronger."

He stepped forward slightly.

"Closer. More aligned."

Vayu narrowed his eyes.

"And that's exactly what he wants."

Jyoti moved closer to Nish, her expression serious.

"So what are you saying?"

There was a brief pause.

Then Nish spoke.

"We stop playing his game."

The Plan

"And how do we do that?" Agniya asked immediately.

Nish looked toward the distant horizon, where darkness seemed thicker than the rest of the night.

"We find the source."

Prithvi's expression shifted.

"You mean the portal?"

Nish nodded.

"The place where he's controlling everything."

Varun shook his head slightly.

"That's too dangerous."

"Exactly," Nish replied.

The silence that followed was heavier than before.

Vayu straightened slightly, his gaze sharpening.

"You're not seriously thinking of going alone, are you?"

Nish did not answer.

He did not need to.

Conflict

"No."

Jyoti's voice cut through the tension.

Firm.

Unwavering.

She stepped forward.

"You're not going alone."

Nish met her gaze.

"This isn't a team mission."

"Everything is a team mission now," she replied without hesitation.

Nish shook his head slightly.

"Not this."

Agniya crossed her arms.

"Why not?"

Nish's voice lowered, more serious than before.

"Because if we all go…"

"…we give him exactly what he wants."

The realization hit them all at once.

"The six elements together…" Varun said slowly.

"In one place," Prithvi finished.

"That's the key," Nish said.

The Truth Behind the Choice

"So you're going to split us again?" Vayu asked.

"No," Nish replied.

"I'm removing one piece."

A heavy silence followed.

Jyoti's eyes widened slightly.

"You."

Nish nodded.

"I'll go alone."

Reactions

"That's stupid," Agniya said instantly.

"That's risky," Varun added.

"That's dangerous," Prithvi said.

"That's insane," Vayu finished.

Nish remained calm.

"That's necessary."

Jyoti and Nish

Jyoti stepped closer.

Closer than before.

Her voice softened, but her words carried weight.

"You might not come back."

Nish did not look away.

"I know."

"Then why?"

For the first time, he hesitated.

Just for a moment.

"Because if I don't go…"

"…we lose anyway."

Silence surrounded them.

"You don't have to do this alone," she said quietly.

Nish's voice lowered.

"Yes."

"I do."

Time seemed to pause.

Then Jyoti lowered her gaze slightly, tightening her grip on her staff.

"…Then come back."

Nish blinked faintly.

"That's all I'm asking."

A rare moment passed between them.

Quiet.

Unspoken.

Real.

"I will."

The Departure

The others stepped back.

Not because they agreed.

But because they understood.

Agniya looked away.

"Don't die."

Vayu gave a faint smirk.

"Try not to get lost in your own shadows."

Varun nodded.

"We'll hold things here."

Prithvi spoke quietly.

"Return."

Nish turned.

No hesitation.

No second thoughts.

He stepped forward.

Into the shadows.

And disappeared.

The Solo Journey

Darkness surrounded him.

Endless.

Silent.

Nish moved through it—not walking, not running, but existing within it as if it were a part of him.

"You came back."

A voice echoed.

Familiar.

Calm.

"I didn't come back," Nish replied.

"I came forward."

The shadows shifted around him.

"Bold…"

"…or desperate."

Nish's eyes glowed faintly.

"Neither."

"Focused."

The darkness parted slowly.

Revealing a path.

Leading deeper.

Tamraj Awaits

At the end of that path stood the Abyss Citadel.

Massive.

Unreal.

Alive.

Its structure twisted in impossible ways, as if it existed beyond the rules of reality itself.

Nish stepped forward.

"So this is it."

The air grew heavier with every step he took.

Power surrounded him.

Watching.

Waiting.

Inside the citadel—

Tamraj stood still.

"He's here."

A slow smile formed on his face.

"Alone."

"Perfect."

Final Scene

Nish walked into the citadel.

No fear.

No hesitation.

Only purpose.

Behind him, the shadows closed.

Sealing the path completely.

Far away, the other Guardians stood in silence.

Watching the sky.

Feeling the shift in the world around them.

"He made his move," Vayu said.

"Now it's our turn to be ready," Varun replied.

Jyoti looked toward the darkness in the distance, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Come back…"

Back inside the citadel, Nish stopped.

A presence stood before him.

Unseen.

But overwhelming.

"Welcome…"

Tamraj's voice echoed through the darkness.

"Dark Guardian."

Nish's eyes sharpened.

"Let's end this."

Tamraj's smile widened.

"No…"

"This is just the beginning."
