The next morning, golden sunlight slipped through the curtains of the Silver Lantern Inn. Kael and Lin Wang had already risen early, eaten a quick breakfast, and left for the blacksmith's forge to choose and buy their new sets of armor, swords, and spares—just as Luo Feng had asked. The two young men were excited, talking eagerly about how the village guards would finally stand tall and strong.
Upstairs, Luo Feng was still fast asleep, his arm draped protectively around Miya. They lay naked together under the thin blanket, skin warm from the night before, her head resting on his chest. Miya was awake, smiling softly as she traced a finger along his shoulder, enjoying the quiet moment.
A soft knock sounded at the door, and before either could answer, little Lila pushed it open with her usual cheerful politeness. "Breakfast is ready—" The five-year-old stopped mid-step, eyes wide for only a heartbeat as she saw the two of them completely bare beneath the blanket. But she was only a child; she didn't blush, didn't scream, and didn't seem to mind at all. She simply tilted her head.
Miya's eyes flew open. She quickly pulled the blanket higher, covering herself slowly while her cheeks burned bright red. "What… what is it, Lila?" she asked, voice soft and a little embarrassed.
"Breakfast is ready downstairs," the little girl answered brightly, as if nothing unusual had happened. "But the other two already left the inn to go buy swords and armor. Mama says the soup will get cold if you wait too long!" She gave a quick curtsy and skipped back out, closing the door behind her.
Miya let out a tiny, flustered laugh and gently shook Luo Feng's shoulder. "Feng… wake up, my love. Breakfast is ready, and Kael and Wang have already gone to the blacksmith."
Luo Feng stirred, blinking awake with a sleepy smile. He pulled her close for a quick, warm kiss before they both dressed and went downstairs.
Little Lila was waiting at their table with two steaming bowls of soup, fresh bread, and cheese. They sat and ate together, the morning light making the inn feel cozy and safe. When the little girl came back to refill their water, Miya leaned down and whispered softly in her ear so only she could hear:
"Don't tell anyone what you saw back there, okay? It's a secret between us."
Lila nodded happily. "Okay! I always bathe without clothes and Mama doesn't mind at all."
Miya smiled gently and brushed a strand of hair from the child's face. "That is because you are still a little kid, Lila. When you grow up it will be different. But thank you for keeping our secret."
The five-year-old beamed and skipped off to help her mother again.
Miya returned to her seat beside Luo Feng, cheeks still faintly pink, and slipped her hand into his under the table. He gave her fingers a reassuring squeeze, his calm, handsome face full of quiet love.
They finished breakfast in peaceful silence, the capital waking up outside the windows. One more week until the weapons and armor were ready… and then the long road home to Eden Village, where their new life together was waiting.
For now, the two of them simply enjoyed the quiet morning, hearts full, ready for whatever the day would bring.
