Chapter 10 - Henry

The night had become old and was approaching its end. However, it still had some time left until the sun rose and illuminated the city with its brilliant glory. The moon hung just above the horizon, reflecting sunlight off its rocky surface as an unnoticeable, miniscule shadow moved across its pale face.

However – within the walls of a certain home in a certain neighborhood – two individuals slept. They were huddled together in their pajamas, arms crossing over each other as they slept soundly.

Suddenly, the man groaned and slowly opened his hazel eyes. He saw his fiancé sleeping peacefully, her silky white skin and ocean blue hair glistening in the moonlight.

A soft smirk made its up to his face before he let her go and pushed himself up. The woman was awoken by his movements and lazily tried to hug him again.

"Wake up, baby." The man stated, grabbing her hand.

The woman groaned.

"Henry…"

She then rolled over onto her back before slowly opening her eyes, revealing a pair of bright blue pupils.

Henry smiled softy and whistled.

"Good morning, Eira."

Eira rubbed her eyes and glanced at Henry. Her eyes narrowed in a tired manner as she sighed and pushed herself up.

Silently gazing towards the window, she stared at the outside blankly for a few seconds. Then, she rotated her head towards Henry who had already stood up and was heading for the bathroom.

"What time is it…?" Eira yawned.

"Don't know." Henry closed the bathroom door.

Eira pouted slightly before standing up as well. Stretching her arms, she shook her body awake with light movements before walking around the bed and turning on the light.

Instantly, the room was illuminated with a bright, artificial radiance that made Eira squint her eyes. Turning away from the bulb, she sat down on the side of the bed which was opposite of the bathroom door – silently waiting for her turn.

After a minute or so, Henry exited with a wet face.

"Your turn." Henry snapped his finger and pointed behind himself.

"Okay!" Eira passed her fiancé and rushed into the bathroom.

Henry sighed, picking up a digital watch from the bedside cabinet and securing it around his wrist. He raised his hand and tried to check the time. However, his vision blurred as soon as the watch neared his eyes.

"Oh."

Henry blurted, covering his eyes in a bit of shame. He then snatched a pair of glasses from the cabinet and rested them on his face.

His vision suddenly became clearer.

Then, he checked the time once again. The glowing numbers on his digital watch read:

[ 4:30 AM ]

Henry yawned, covering his mouth with the hand he had raised. Then, he turned around and approached another door. Gripping the knob, he twisted it and pushed open the door.

He stepped inside the wardrobe and saw an array of clothes hanging from a horizontal metal rail. Raising his hand, he grabbed a black and a blue tracksuit – both with white accents.

Exiting the closet, he threw the blue tracksuit onto the bed and then began to take off his pajamas.

A minute later, Eira exited the bathroom as Henry finished putting on his tracksuit. Glancing at her tracksuit which Henry had thrown on the bed, she neared her fiancé and kissed him on the cheek.

"Thanks."

Henry nodded with a smile before passing her and exiting their bedroom. After he had left, Eira began taking off her pajamas.

After putting on her tracksuit, Eira headed over to the front entrance of the house where Henry had been waiting for her. As he had already put on his running shoes, she quickly put on her on own.

With a small grunt, Eira jolted up and pointed at the front door.

"I'm ready!"

Henry stepped onto the front porch and stood beside the entrance, waiting for his fiancé to exit

"Let's go then."

Eira rushed out and as she did, Henry locked the door before quietly following behind her.

The two began their morning run, passing the perimeter of their home. Their feet bounced off the ground in uncanny unison, pushing them forward with each step. The dark sky hovered right above them, the moon floating just above the horizon as they jogged through the neighborhood.

After 20 minutes, they had covered almost two and a half miles. And as they did pass that milestone, Eira asked Henry a question in between breaths.

"So, what are your plans for today?"

Henry responded in the same manner, wiping the cold sweat off her forehead.

"Well… I have to meet up with Missio today. That's pretty much it."

Eira raised a brow, turning her head a little.

"Is that why you were 'researching' yesterday?"

Henry nodded.

"Yeah and it was research by the way."

Eira turned her head forward with a small grin.

"What does he want to talk about? Is it about the new mission we got?"

"Yes…"

Eira heaved a heavy breath, feeling her muscles ache a little as they covered more distance,

"Well, I'm still confused about it even though you sent a more detailed briefing on it. It still doesn't make sense to me why we would be taking an international job? Usually in situations like these… the two Black Ops are mean to cooperate to complete mission, are they not?"

Henry glanced at his watch, checking his heart rate before replying:

"That's correct but it looks like our target this time is a special case. That's why we've been sent, because the AEOC refused to try to arrest him one more time. Didn't I tell you that?"

Eira shook her head.

"I know he hasn't been arrested yet even though the government threw the Police, Juggernauts and Black Ops at them. I'm just curious as to what the plan is. How are we going to arrest such a target?"

A faint smirk appeared on Henry's face.

"That is my job."

Eira rolled her eyes as a light laugh escaped her lips.

"Of course, it is, Honey."

Henry pursed his lips, tapping her on her back.

"Now, lets focus on the run.

Eira smiled, nodding slightly.

"Right."
