Chapter 188 - Surfing

An hour later…

After eating breakfast, the group headed back to the RV. Dante clasped his hands as they approached the vehicle.

"Alright… time to have some fun." He mumbled.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Bellum tilted his head as they entered.

Dante locked eyes with Bellum. Bellum locked eyes with Victor. Victor met Missio's eyes. Missio looked around in confusion.

"Huh? Where are we going?" he blurted.

"Surfing." Dante and Bellum spoke.

Victor adjusted his glasses, a smile tugging at his lips.

"If that's the case, then let's get dressed."

Dante and Bellum agreed. Dante lifted the King-sized mattress they had slept on, pulling out all their suitcases. Missio watched them unpack their beach clothes with wide eyes. Dante threw his clothes at him. Missio caught his clothes, glancing at them. He sighed, taking off his headphones. After a few minutes, they exited the RV, clad in unbuttoned T-shirts, swim trunks of different colors, and flip flops. Missio adjusted his headphones.

"Where the hell are we gonna get surfboards?"

"I'm always prepared." Dante tapped his glasses.

The RV responded to his command, opening a compartment on its side.

"It can do that?" Missio blurted as Dante pulled out his surfboard.

"Duh." Bellum drew his surfboard.

Missio shook his head. He approached the side compartment as Victor stepped back. Missio bent down, reaching out his hand. He gripped his board and pulled it out. He backed up right after. Dante tapped his meta glasses once again, locking the RV entirely. Then, he turned towards the others, opening his mouth.

"Let's go." He waved his hand.

Missio, Dante, Bellum and Victor arrived on the beach of Monterosso al Mare.

"The beach is really crowded today…" Dante commented, gazing at the crowded beach.

Bellum stretched out his arms, shouting at the top of his lungs.

"LET'S SURF!!!"

Dante slapped him on the back. "Don't shout so loudly."

Bellum rolled his eyes. "Whatever…"

Right then, a massive wave crashed into the shore, wetting the group. Missio whistled, shielding his face from the water.

"This is gonna be fun." He commented – smiling.

"It sure is!" Bellum exclaimed. "Just follow my lead. I'm a pro at this."

"I haven't seen you surf a day in my life." Dante chuckled.

"Yeah… do you even know how to surf?" Missio added.

"Sue me if I can't." Bellum said.

"Be careful. I might." Dante joked.

"Even if you're the chief justice, I'll fight ya." Bellum spoke, pointing at his friend.

The group approached the shore. Bellum stepped into the water, placing his board on its surface. He swam ahead as the others followed behind him. A wave swept all of them, lifting them high. Dante spat out a mouthful of water.

"God damn…"

The supreme commander glanced ahead, seeing a wave forming at the edge of his vision.

"Wave incoming!" Bellum shouted, holding his board.

The commander popped up into the air. He landed perfectly on his board. He spread his arms out, using them to maintain his balance. He looked ahead, watching the beach from above.

Dante followed his lead, popping onto his surfboard as the wave swept him away. He spread his arms out as well, maintaining his balance. He took off his glasses, making sure they didn't fall into the water. Missio and Victor also leapt onto their boards. However, they quickly lost balance and fell back into the ocean.

"God dammit!" Missio exclaimed. "I was so close."

"We can do it next time…" Victor wiped his face. "Let's run it back."

The duo spun around, watching another wave approach them. On the other hand, Dante and Bellum rode the wave effortlessly.

"Not bad, Dante!" Bellum shouted.

"Same to you!" Dante replied.

The two snapped their heads forward. The wave dove down as it neared the beach. The supreme commander and commander prepared for landing. As they approached land, they crouched, gripping their boards. Then, they leapt off. The water crashed against the rough sand, wetting the other tourists. Dante and Bellum straightened. The King shook his head, making water droplets fly off his hair.

"I didn't know you could surf like that, dude." he commented.

"Dante… I didn't use my vacations for nothing." Bellum wiped his face. "I've learned a lot. Surfing is one of my older tricks."

"Sure – Sure…" Dante tilted his head back. "Where are Missio and Victor?"

Bellum raised a brow, turning his head around. In the far distance, he noticed Victor and Missio struggling to ride a wave. He blinked – sighing.

"He has terrifying talent for Sempiterne swordsmanship but he's a noob when surfing? The world is an interesting place."

"Give him a break." Dante sat down, sticking his board into the sand. "He hasn't touched the ocean all his life."

"Wait… did Victor go in with his glasses?" Bellum narrowed his eyes. "That's gonna cost him."

Dante froze at the exact moment. He tapped his head – his meta glasses were still there. He pressed his hand against his pocket. He felt something. He cursed under his breath, drawing his phone from his pocket.

"Shit…" Dante muttered, holding his wet phone.

Bellum burst into uncontrollable laughter. He clutched his chest, gasping for air in-between laughs. Dante pressed the power button. One–two–three seconds passed. Then, the screen lit up. A wave of relief washed over Dante as his body relaxed.

"Oh, good lord… it's fine."

"You really… forgot your… phone while we were surfing?! You're an idiot!"

"Yeah – yeah, whatever…" Dante shook his hand at his friend.

At the same time, Missio and Victor washed onto the shore – completely gassed.

"Did you have fun?" Dante inquired.

"Sure did." Missio responded, panting.

Victor wiped his face. "I lost my damn glasses… God damn, I can't even see straight right now."

"Round 2?" Bellum jolted up.

"Absolutely." Dante agreed, standing up as well.
