Chapter 11 - The Ghosts of Section E

Keifer's POV

The Section E common room was a dump, but it was our dump. The air was thick with the smell of old ramen and the mechanical hum of Edrix's custom-built computer towers.

Usually, the guys were loud—shouting over video games or arguing about who won a fight—but tonight, it was dead quiet.

Everyone was gathered around . Edrix sat hunched over three different monitors, his fingers flying across the keys like he was playing a frantic concerto. Rory stood behind him, arms crossed, staring at a scrolling wall of data.

"Did you get past the firewall? Anything??" I asked, stepping into the circle. My mind was still playing back the image of Jay holding that girl by the throat. I needed to know what kind of person we were dealing with.

Rory looked up, a weird smirk on his face. "I got it, Keifer. I pulled Jane's file first."

Yuri, who usually didn't care about anyone's business, leaned in close. "Read it out, Rory. Let's see what the 'Elite' girl is hiding."

Rory cleared his throat and started reading. "Jane Fernandes. Top of her class in every subject. Straight A's. Teachers' favorite. She's won awards for dancing, singing, and she's active in every club you can imagine."

Yuri barked out a laugh, shaking his head. "Is this a joke? With a record like that, she could be in Section A on a full scholarship. Heck, she could be running the school. Why the hell is she sitting on a broken chair in Section E?"

"Wait, there's more," Rory said, his voice dropping an octave. He scrolled to the bottom of the digital page. "There's a disciplinary note from her previous academy. It says she was expelled and blacklisted."

"For what?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"It says she beat a boy down," Rory replied. "Apparently, he tried to misbehave with her sister, Jean. Jane didn't wait for a teacher. She handled it herself."

"That's it?" Blaster yelled from the back of the room, tossing a crumpled soda can. "One fight and she's in Section E? That's weak."

Rory looked at Blaster, his face pale.

"Blaster, the boy is still in a coma. Two years later. He hasn't woken up."

The room went ice-cold. We all looked at each other. Jane—the girl who smiled softly, the girl who looked like she wouldn't hurt a fly—had literally broken a human being.

"Damn," Yuri whispered, his eyes gleaming with a new kind of respect. "She's not a sidekick. She's a sleeper cell."

Yuri's POV

The room went dead silent after hearing Rory.I looked at the photo of Jane on the screen. She looked so sweet, so calm. But she had destroyed a person to protect her sister.

Interesting, I thought. The 'Elite' girl isn't a princess. She's a bodyguard. I found myself smiling. I liked people who had a dark side. It made them real.

Keifer's POV

"Forget the sister for a second," Edrix muttered, his fingers typing faster than I could follow. "You need to see Jay's record. Or should I say... Jean's."

He turned the largest monitor around so we could all see. It wasn't a student file. It looked like a police report.

"Look at this," Edrix said, pointing at the bullet points. "Incident one: Punched a senior male student and shattered his jaw. Incident two: Stabbed a classmate in the leg with a sharpened pencil during a mid-term exam because he wouldn't stop kicking her chair. Incident three: Suspected of burning down a storage classroom. Incident four: Beat up four varsity boys in the locker room. Incident five: Forcibly shaved the heads of three girls who were bullying ."

"She's a goddamn Viking," Denzel said.

"She's a beast!" Eren said laughing.

"She's a psycho," Felix whispered, but he was grinning. "She's perfect. She fits in Section E better than we do."

"There's something else," Edrix said, his brow furrowed. "There's a massive block of data here that's encrypted. It's not school-level security. This is high-end, international-grade encryption. Someone went to a lot of trouble to hide her childhood."

"Decode it," I said, my voice low. "I want to know the rest. I want to know who she really is."

"You shouldn't run after things that are out of reach."

The voice came from the doorway, sharp and cold as a winter wind. We all jumped, spinning around.

Jay was leaning against the doorframe. Her eyes were dark, hooded, and completely unreadable. She had been standing there the whole time, watching us pick apart her life like vultures.

"You've read enough records to satisfy your curiosity," she said, stepping into the room. The boys instinctively backed away, giving her a wide path. "Whatever is behind that encryption isn't for you. It's not for anyone."

She walked right up to Edrix's desk and stared at the screen. She didn't look angry; she looked bored.

"Just know this," she said, turning her gaze to me. "We aren't people you should mess with. We didn't come here to make friends, and we didn't come here to be your entertainment. Keep your noses in your own business, or I'll make sure you don't have noses left to poke with."

She stayed there for a beat, letting the threat hang in the air, then turned and walked out.

I stood there, my heart hammering against my ribs. Most people in this school were afraid of me. But Jay? She made me feel like I was the one who should be running.

Jane's POV

The walk to the bus stop was quiet. The sun was dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in bruises of purple and orange. I could feel the heat radiating off Jay. She was in "Protector Mode."

"They were digging, weren't they?" I asked softly, adjusting my backpack.

Jay didn't look at me. "Edrix and Rory. They hacked the server. They saw the coma incident, Jane. They saw your 'A-plus' record and the 'F-minus' ending."

I smirked. It wasn't a pretty smile. It was the smile of someone who knew exactly what she was capable of. "I knew you'd handle them. You always do. Did they see your greatest hits too? The pencil? The fire?"

"Every bit of it," Jay muttered. "They think we're monsters."

"Let them," I said, bumping my shoulder against hers. "It's better they fear us than try to use us. Do you think they found the connection?"

Jay paused, her eyes narrowing as a bus pulled up to the curb. "Not yet. Edrix is good, but he's not that good. I warned them off before they got to the Fernandes archives."

"Any thoughts on what Keifer will do?" I asked as we stepped onto the bus.

Jay sat down, staring out the window at the passing trees. "He's curious. And curious boys get hurt. But for now, we just go home. We act like the 'girls' they think we are."

"Sounds like a plan," I whispered.

Keifer's POV

I watched theor car pull away from the school gates from the upstairs window. The room behind me was still quiet. The guys were shaken up. Jay had a way of sucking the oxygen out of a room.

"Keifer," Edrix called out. His voice sounded different. Shaky.

"What now? I thought she told you to stop."

"I did," Edrix said, turning back to his screen. "I didn't touch the encrypted files. But... I found something in the public birth registry. Something that wasn't locked because nobody thought to look for it."

I walked over. "Show me."

Edrix opened two windows side-by-side. On the left was a copy of Jay and Jane's birth certificates. The mother's name was listed as Jeana Fernandes.

On the right was the official family tree of the Fernandes Estate—the billionaires who funded half the city and owned HVIS.

"Jeana Fernandes," Edrix whispered, pointing at the tree. "She was the half-sister of Aries' mother. They shared the same father, the old Patriarch."

My jaw dropped. The pieces started clicking together like a puzzle from hell. The way Jane looked at Aries. The way Jay shouted his full name like she owned him. The way Aries—the coldest guy in school—actually flinched when she spoke.

"Aries is their brother," I breathed. "Their actual, blood brother."

"Half-brother," Edrix corrected. "But look at the dates. Jeana was exiled from the family . She was the 'disgrace.' She is an illegitimate child.Aries was adopted by Gemma Fernadeze. Jay was leaving with her mother till four but then she disappeared then again she and Jane both were found at age of 14 ."

A slow, dark grin spread across my face. This was better than any fight. This was power.

"Aries' sisters," I whispered, the words feeling heavy and delicious on my tongue. "How interesting. He's been keeping them in the trash to hide his own secret."

I looked at the scuff marks on the floor where Jay had stood. She was a hurricane, alright. And Aries was the one who had tried to cage her.

"We aren't going to report them," I told the guys, my voice full of iron. "And we aren't going to fight them."

"Then what are we doing?" Felix asked.

"We're going to use them," I said. "We're going to use the sisters to burn Aries' kingdom to the ground. If he wants to treat Section E like garbage, let's see how he feels when the garbage starts talking back."

I looked back out the window. The school felt different now. The hierarchy was fake. The Prince was a liar. And I had the only two people in the world who could make him bleed.

"Aries," I muttered to the darkness. "You should have checked your sisters."
